    Job Description

    Target start date for this position is September 2021.

    The intern/co-op will provide mechanical design and test support for aviation product development. Tasks will include:

    • Participation in product design and test plan discussions. Work with other engineers in developing prototypes (via 3D printing) and assessing product integrity through testing and simulations.

    • Provide mechanical documentation support for new and existing products within the Critical Communications Systems Engineering group. Coordinate (with manufacturing and engineering) the release of documentation related to new production units. Maintain current product documentation. Provide manufacturing with engineering support for mechanically re-designed units to improve performance and reduce costs.

    • Creation of and release of piece part prints for new and existing components.

    • Create artwork for product labeling.

    • Update documentation per engineering and manufacturing change requests. Ensure the timely flow of information between engineering and manufacturing.

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Education:

    Must be in-progress toward a Bachelors degree in Design/Drafting or Mechanical Engineering. At least Junior status preferred.

    • AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience are a must. Other design software packages such as Creo is a plus.

    • Understanding of CAD documentation processes and tools are required.

    • Ability to work independently, remotely, and succeed under tight deadlines using available resources.

    • Team player willing to work in an environment that embraces continual process improvement.

    •  Ability to travel to the Burnsville location several times a week to use test equipment is required. 

    • Experience with microcontrollers such as Arduino is a plus.
