    Job Description

    SUMMARY

    This position is accountable for developing, evaluating, and improving the test equipment, processes and methodologies used to perform end-of-line verification of new and existing products to ensure the efficient, cost-effective manufacture and test of high quality products in support of strategic objectives. This position focuses on New Product Implementation (NPI) and is accountable for defining and implementing product test strategies to meet quality and cost objectives within a Project Team environment.  The position also provides Maintenance-of-Line (MOL) support to Manufacturing in order to achieve zero defects in out-going product quality and on-time delivery objectives.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Provide leadership for the planning, definition, and development of product specific test strategies during the NPI phase.
    • Develop, introduce, maintain and improve manufacturing test equipment and processes for new and existing products to assure that effec­tive technology, team member suggestions, and product test techniques are all utilized to produce products which meet custom­er requirements.
    • Initiate the design for testability (DFT) analysis of new products and define test requirements and test strategies.
    • Confer with management, design engineering, and other staff regarding Manufacturing test capabilities, development schedules, costs, and other considerations to facilitate the test fixture development processes.
    • Identify, select, and justify capital equipment expenditures associated with product testing.
    • Aid Manufacturing and Quality with troubleshooting failures and determining corrective actions to prevent failures from reoccurring
    • Provide manufacturing test expertise to other departments and teams, such as Produc­tion Teams, Management, Design Engineering, and Marketing to make improve­ments in product design specifica­tions, methods of PCBA test and end-of-line test, and material requirements, that will ulti­mately impact customer satisfaction.
    • Define methods and systems for data acquisition, test and repair traceability, and service repair traceability.
    • Follow and continually monitor established safety and environmental proce­dures to assure a clean, safe work environment is promoted and maintained.
    • Provide quality in all goods and services delivered to internal and external customers through an approach of thorough planning, responsible implementa­tion, and continu­ous improvement.
    • Maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that interfaces well with customers, clients, co-workers and management members.
    • Create and maintain Electronics Testing Procedures and Electronics Programming Procedures
    • Maintain testing software updates
    • Perform other functions as necessary.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    REQUIRED

    • BSEE or related Engineering degree
    • 2-5 years experience defining and implementing electronic product testing strategies
    • One to three years experience in test software development using LabView, Visual Basic, and C/C++
    • Familiar with PCBA In-Circuit Testing
    • Comprehensive knowledge of PCB Assembly, Surface Mount Technology, and Electro mechanical assembly
    • Understanding of Ford, GM, and Chrysler Quality system requirements or Ford Q-1 requirements or ISO 9000 requirements or QS 9000 requirements
    • Strong working knowledge of process control concepts and applications, including process capability analysis
    • Familiar with data acquisition methods and systems
    • Preferred
    • Prior experience in delivering training, or public speaking, to small groups
    • Prior experience in development and testing of products with embedded software
    • Experience with various memory device programming; DSP, CPID’s, FPGA, ASIC, etc.
    • Affiliations with ASTE and IEEE organizations
    • Experience programming Flying Probe

    • Project management skills
    • Excellent document writing and records retention skills for processes,  procedures, and product traceability
    • PC and on-line computing skills, including ability to operate spreadsheet and word processing software from a Windows environment and use of the SAP system
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Training and skilled in the use of formal problem solving techniques, including team problem solving
    • ABILITIES
    • Demonstrated ability to work with and in a team environment
    • Demonstrated ability to lead a cross-functional team on development of test fixtures
