Job Description
The Engineering Manager - Commercial Vehicle Steering is responsible for managing and leading a system development team in order to ensure the on-time development of state-of-the-art commercial vehicle steering systems that are cost effective, meet customer specifications and maintain company/industry standards. The Engineering Manager is also responsible to build and maintain customer technical relationships and support the customer in steering system technology and application development. This includes hydraulic, electro-hydraulic, and fully electric steering systems with leading technology in the commercial vehicle market including ADAS Level 2-4.
Responsibilities
Lead and develop engineering team with the goal to provide high quality and on time system design for commercial vehicle steering systems.
Ensure project plans are available, maintained, and fulfill project milestones.
Provide customers first escalation level to support clarification of specifications and resolution of problems. Develop alternative action plans to address problems and/or schedule delays; suggest compromises and recommend ways to recover project time lost.
Provide strategic guidance to direct team and project towards achieving internal and customer goals.
Build and maintain relationships between Bosch and internal / external customers.
Look for solutions and applications of the Bosch Commercial Steering product portfolio to fit the market and customer needs. Understand the market and customer needs and clearly communicate those back into the organization.
Handle and assign projects to project groups to develop customer specific solutions according to internal and external requirements under consideration of the Product Development Process.
Work with other departments as necessary to define potential new business/project opportunities.
Ensure adequate resources and on-time deliveries of technical support / documents in new business acquisitions.
Develop and operate within department budget and perform headcount planning in support of Business Plan. Regularly monitor and report out budget spend relative to plan.
Complete all projects within departmental operative procedures company policies and professional standards.
Evaluate engineering operations, review work of engineering personnel, maintain records, enforce company rules, review performance, and make recommendations in personnel decisions.
Position will include up to 25% travel
