    Job Description

    Bosch Engineering North America is offering a professional role in our vehicle systems engineering team focusing on Electrified, Automated and Connected technologies.

    Within the Bosch Group you will lead / establish collaboration across function (customer, engineering) and across divisions (Chassis Systems, Powertrain Solutions, Automotive Electronics).

    As Functional Safety Expert, you are responsible for leading the safety plan and enabling the project team through all phases of safety engineering (requirements elicitation, item definitions, hazard analysis and risk assessment, functional safety concept, technical safety concept, item integration, safety validation). You collaborate with the design team to develop, implement and validate effective solutions. Our extensive customer portfolio includes a spectrum of major manufacturers from luxury and sports car segments to commercial vehicles including highly advanced technical applications.

    Main Duties:

    • Leading and coordinating safety activities with customers, all involved divisions in Germany, suppliers, and other Bosch functional groups. Serve as main customer technical interface for functional safety topics.
    • Perform technical analysis and provide results to support the development of the safety concept and documentation of the safety case.
    • These activities include; hazard and risk assessment, hazard metric translation, define safety goals and criteria, ASIL decomposition, FMEA and FTA analysis.
    • Consult and collaborate with the software design teams to achieve effective technical solutions and ensure that all safety requirements are robust at the systems level, hardware interface level and software architectural levels.
    • Actively participate in product development; including planning and monitoring of safety plans; plan and define validation testing.
    • Support functional safety verification and validation.
    • Present results and report progress to internal and external customers, stakeholders and auditors.
    • Occasional business travel - approximately 20% annually, both domestic and international.
    • Developing and extending professional networks within Bosch and to external business partners.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • B.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Quality Engineering.
    • Minimum 10 years of automotive experience.
    • Minimum 3 years’ experience with Chassis Control Systems including: Active Safety, Driver Assistance, Autonomous Driving, Electric Power Steering and other advanced vehicle control concepts (e.g. torque vectoring).
    • 4-5 years of experience in Safety Engineering.
    • Valid driver’s license.
    • 2 years leadership experience (technical, project or line)

    Preferred:

    •  M.S. in Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, or Quality Engineering.
    •  4 years professional development experience in the field of vehicle dynamics.
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
