    Job Description

    Within the Powertrain Solutions division in Farmington Hills, MI, BOSCH is improving the quality of life by working to bring zero emission propulsion systems to the North American market (and globally) together with our OEM partners. A leading technology, especially for large commercial vehicle applications such as long-haul trucks, Hydrogen Fuel cells produce electricity via an electrochemical conversion of hydrogen gas and oxygen, with the only exhaust byproduct being water and heat.

    As a Hydrogen Fuel Cell Systems Engineer Customer (SEC) the ideal candidate would work together with other Fuel Cell system engineers and technical experts in order to integrate, commission, calibrate, test, and validate the BOSCH Fuel Cell Power Module in a heavy-duty commercial vehicle truck to be used in long-haul applications within the US/NA market. The SEC is a liaison between our US vehicle customer, and our global development teams located in Arizona, Michigan, and Germany, working together to problem-solve and troubleshoot issues which may arise during development and/or after series production.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Customer front-end/first point of contact regarding the Hydrogen Fuel Cell Power Module TwinBox
    • Support on-site vehicle calibration engineers and platform team regarding vehicle controls work packages, including system start-up and shutdown process, thermal system functionality, interface with other vehicle control units (VCU, TMM, HSCU, chassis, etc.) and Fuel Cell system monitoring and diagnostics including troubleshooting
    • Provide regular updates of customer JIRA database and/or internal Track&Release system, deriving FCPM customer requirements, prioritization of tasks, internal coordination as required, and reporting
    • Write, update, release, and discuss technical customer documentation (TCD) and interface design document (IDD) with the customer and internal platform development leads
    • Good communicator; able to explain a complex engineering process in simple terms to non-engineers in verbal, written, and visual form
    • Frequently reporting status updates to team and management as needed
    • Team-oriented, self-directed personality, good inter-personal and organizational skills

    • PEM (Proton Exchange Membrane) Fuel Cell Stacks and Systems
    • Automotive/mobile applications including commercial vehicles
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Who are good communicators; able to explain complex engineering processes in simple terms to non-engineers in verbal, written, and visual forms
    • That have a team-oriented, self-directed personality and strong inter-personal and organizational skills
    • Who are willing to learn via various methods, including external courses, internal seminars (Local and abroad), and self-driven means

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelors’ degree in Mechanical or Electrical engineering
    • 3+ years minimum experience in mechanical/ electrical fields with control unit hardware/software and/or controls theory or automotive calibration experience

       

    PREFERRED

    • INCA Calibration Tool knowledge and experience
    • Measurement data analysis with ETAS MDA
    • Experience in handling hex and a2l files, flashing ECUs and understanding SW documentation (eHandbook)
    • Vector CANoe/CANalyzer experience
    • Advanced knowledge in vehicle CAN networks 
    • Fuel Cell system knowledge
    • Experience with similar technologies regarding model-based SW and controls
    • Experience with control/SW of vehicle thermal systems.
