  • Responsibilities

    Job Description

    The Material Science Intern will be responsible for the following tasks:

    • Assist Materials Lab associates with various lab tasks. Lab tasks include optical inspection and analysis, metallographic sample preparation, scanning electron microscopy, computed tomography (CT) scanning radiography, Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) and Ion Chromatography (IC). This would include supporting the creation of a physical analysis database for the data from these inspections.
    • Assist with potential research projects. The projects may involve compounding, sample preparation, searching standards, designing fixture and gadgets, designing molds, and performing mechanical characterization tests.
    • General engineering assistance may be expected in the electronics lab, validation lab, and with development engineers. This may include work on test set-up, photo documentation, and analysis of data.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university and pursuing a Masters or PhD degree Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, or Engineering with at least one graduate semester completed.
    • Must possess basic lab knowledge, base materials knowledge (Metals, Polymers or Ceramics), and basic Physics or Chemistry.
    • A minimum GPA of 3.0.
    • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
    • Eligible to work in the US without sponsorship
