Job Description
This job is responsible for the coordination and management of Steering Systems prototype projects from project acquisition to final order delivery. The Prototype Project Manager/Coordinator Coordinates, Manages and Leads assignments by coordinating with external as well as internal functions and parent company organizations to meet customer Electric Power Steering prototype requirements and company objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:
• Responsible for coordinating and documenting all activities from prototype kick off process to correct and on time delivery of prototype products to customers.
• Track and record the implementation of design changes.
• Track and record shipments to customer.
• Attend Program Team meetings – Kick off, Project Status, and other core team events.
• Coordinate, lead, and support prototype team to ensure that customer key-event dates are achieved for prototype program launch.
• Manage program time-lines and activity reports to drive the on-time prototype completion and delivery.
• Utilize customer supply portals for management and communication of prototype programs when necessary.
• Coordinate the efforts and activities between Program Management and Engineering cross-functional teams to resolve issues as they arise during the course of prototyping and/or design change.
• Organize and lead prototype team meetings to coordinate project activity.
• Provide management with monthly reports/program time lines to update the progress of each new program and maintain needed information per corporate data concept.
• Meet all customer and internal quality Standards requirements.
• Coordinate Corrective Action reports with Quality and Supplier Quality for prototype quality issues or customer concerns.
• Coordinate prototype orders with Program Management and Purchasing.
• Analyze prototype costs to support sales in quotation as well as for managing costs to meet the company’s minimum profit and/or rate of return.
• Work with Prototype Program Team to process work instructions, control plans and plant layout to meet customer standards.
• Assist logistics and shipping teams to help physically move, pack, and inventory material.
