Job Description
The Manager of Technical Functions (TEF) is responsible for the development and execution of visions and strategies to continuously improve processes and implement advanced manufacturing technologies. He/ She is a strong advocate for Safety and Quality and is leading and living these principles. The TEF manager is responsible for the plant’s IT infrastructure, Facility Management, Machine Maintenance, Tool Room, and Implementation of Controls, and Industry4.0 Projects. He/She reports directly to the DIRECTOR OF MANUFACTURING OPERATIONS AND ENGINEERING (MOE). Close cooperation and communication are essential to the overall success of the group.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· Manage all functional requirements and personnel activities in all departments reporting to this position. Monitor and appraise employees’ performance periodically.
· Create a high-performance culture with utilization of the target organization, employee development and coaching. Establish environment and program to develop key talent for manufacturing and maintenance.
· Create a passion for safety, quality, and customer satisfaction.
· Create the Business Plan for TEF and FCM and track performance to Business Plan targets. Establish and maintain measures derived from the Business Plan. Work closely with associates in reporting departments to achieve departmental and company goals.
· Track actual performance daily, weekly, monthly (value stream KPI’s, budget controlling). Prioritize and drive improvements as needed to ensure targets are achieved.
· Develop and drive cost reduction activities for department.
· Oversee the Machine Maintenance programs and processes to increase machine uptime and lower overall maintenance costs and ensure compliance to legal requirements.
· Oversee projects and investments in Facility Management and ensure legal compliance.
· Lead Industry 4.0 activities in the plant, drive the I4.0 Roadmap for the plant. Develop with other departments (MOE’s, EPU, QMM, LOG, etc.) future manufacturing standards and strategies.
· Perform other essential and related peripheral duties as may be assigned.
FCM FACILITIES:
· Oversee the coordination of building space allocation, layout and facilities expansion, project management, writing specifications and work scopes.
· Plan budgets and schedules facility modifications, including cost estimates.
· Inspect construction, installation progress and related internal MAE.
· Responsible for preventive maintenance of facility and equipment including HVAC, office equipment, dock equipment, electrical systems, internal & external.
· Oversee Cleaning and Maintenance of Facility.
· Responsible for operations and maintenance of fire alarm, security systems.
· Responsible for risk management program, code compliance with all regulating agencies and or applicable covenants.
· Ensure safe/secure, functional and efficient buildings for the proper operation of equipment as well as the safe and efficient disposal of discarded assets and materials needed in the production process.
· Functions not detailed above but intuitive to successful operation.
MAINTENANCE AND MRO:
· Develop Total Maintenance and Spare Parts Plan for all Steering Column production and support processes.
· Provide and maintain project timelines and budgets and Headcount allocation for Maintenance.
· Develop practices and procedures to improve existing systems.
· Establish effective and self-sufficient maintenance and tooling program.
· Lead contact to machine or equipment suppliers for training and repairs.
· Coordinate assistance real-time problem-solving diagnosis for maintenance and Controls personnel in troubleshooting and fixing machine issues.
· Maintain setup, procure receiving and storing indirect materials and Purchases for the facilities.
· Vending machine facilities, spare parts, and indirect materials.
· Tooling shop room and methods function room.
IT, CONTROLS, INDUSTRY4.0:
· Data architecture development and maintenance to support secure IT standards and information transparency.
· Provide controls engineering support that can create, implement, and debug process improvements of assembly or manufacturing line controls.
· Maintain a project roadmap with milestones and overall progress related to IT, controls, and I4.0 projects.
· Continually updating knowledge and analytical infrastructure on the latest I4.0 solutions and innovations.
· Develop and grow a cross-functional team of I4.0, production IT, and controls engineering experts.
· Communicate high-level I4.0 initiative vision and status to all levels in the plant.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
· Min. Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations.
· Proven leadership skills with both direct associates and a larger team of indirect associates.
· Experience with Assembly manufacturing (tooling, process, cost reduction, maintenance).
· Experience with (Bosch) financial tools such as investment calculation, cost tracking, etc.
· Experience leading complex problem-solving teams using systemic approach such as Shainin or Six Sigma.
· Knowledge of BPS principles and proven skills to drive BPS.
· Proven experience of implementing CIP projects.
· Experience implementing Connected Industry solutions to drive higher performance.
