    Job Description

    The Regulatory Compliance Engineer will contribute to Bosch’s obligation of making our products compatible and compliant to environmental and other regulatory requirements throughout their complete life cycle.  This will be accomplished, by providing functional support and guidance related to legal and customer driven requirements, to cross-functional product development teams.  This role will coordinate efforts to monitor regulations across our global markets, educate development teams on emerging regulatory trends, and facilitate the measurement and evaluation of regulatory objectives established at the onset of a product development project. 

    PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

    Standards elicitation and tracking

    • Research global regulations relevant to electronic security and fire products.

    • Track impending regulatory changes and implementation dates and communicate to product development teams.

    • Participate on regulatory / standards committees representing Bosch Security Systems and shaping global requirements.

    • Maintain database of regulatory standards, product compliance, renewal dates.

    • Establish/maintain working relationships with regulatory labs and agencies.

    • Effectively coordinate product testing with regulatory agencies including working with engineering teams to ensure required samples, technical documentation, and instructions provided for successful testing and certification.

    Product development

    • Provide input to new product requirement specifications regarding applicable standards.
    • Collaborate with external agencies to determine required product test procedures and timelines.
    • Provide technical guidance to development teams on regulatory requirements and interpretation.
    • Provide input to project management concerning regulatory approval scheduling.
    • Mentor less technical staff to develop their knowledge of regulatory requirements, and state of the art expectations.
    • Provide input to annual budget for external testing and regulatory compliance

    Other Workplace Considerations:

    • Ability to travel occasionally both domestically and internationally.
    • Ability to work across global time zones
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Basic Qualifications:

    • Associate's degree.
    • 5+ years of applicable regulatory experience, supporting a product development environment.
    • Experience includes a demonstrated ability to proactively lead regulatory matters impacting products in a product development / project management capacity. 
    • Experience includes working with notifying bodies and external test agencies: UL, ULc, ETL/Intertek, TUV, FM.
    • Basic understanding of mechanical and electronic design & manufacturing principals.

    _Preferred Qualifications: _

    • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Industrial, Environmental, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or other applicable engineering discipline.
    • Expert knowledge of EMC, UL, EN, CE, RoHS and REACH, and other global standards.
    • Knowledge of  electronic security and fire systems and associated standards
    • Experience facilitating workshops or group discussions
    • Solid communication and negotiation skills.
    • Effective prioritization and decision making skills.
    • Highly organized with the ability to juggle multiple competing projects and prioritize tasks
    • Must possess a positive, can-do attitude and be an excellent team player. 
    • To be successful in this position individual must have a high level of self-motivation, a drive for self-development and possess good reading comprehension, communication and leadership skills.
