    Job Description

    Primary responsibility is to support the Design Engineering Problem Solving activities.  This includes, but not limited to root cause analysis, robust assessment, robust engineering, executing and closing projects.  Also, facilitating, prioritizing, and analyzing continuous improvement activities within all departments.  This position is also expected to lead and/or support NAFTA, and Global Black Belt projects. Duties and tasks are frequently non-routine.

    • Leads problem solving resolution, root-cause analysis and continuous improvement efforts globally.

    • Must be capable of leadership role in a cross-functional team environment.

    • Encourages cross-functional teamwork from sales, design, engineering and all other departmental managers.

    • Develop engineering practices and procedures when present system is inadequate.

    • Provide engineering support to achieve a steering system design that is optimal for vehicle performance, piece cost, capital investment, quality and manufacturability

    • Assists in budget control activity, ie. Reducing BOM and supplier tooling costs, reducing capital investment, or improving product manufacturability by initiating VA/VE activity

    • Implement and manage the project database for problem solving, robust, and continuous improvement projects.

    • Perform cost-benefit analysis in support of targeted projects

    • Provide project status updates to management staff

    • Implement and manage the facilitation of projects and project teams.  Provide employees with latest methods and tools to ensure project success by reaching goals in a timely manner.  Ensure consistent reporting structure.

    • Provide guidance and support for project teams in robust design,  problem solving, and continuous improvement methodologies

    • Provide quarterly recommendations to management staff on project prioritization

    • Analyze and recommend project resource leveling/allocation between affected projects

    • Contribute to employee communications

    • Provide quarterly project updates and quantitative analysis of engineering projects

    • Responsible for maintaining the Open Issues List for the assigned projects

    • Provide support for the manufacturing facility

    • Manage design & commercial change process as necessary

    • Identify growth opportunities

    • Comply with all TS16949 policies and procedures

    • All other duties as assigned

      Previous automotive experience preferred

    • Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university
    • Student progressing toward BEME / BSEE.
    • Pursuing a Bachelors or Masters degree with at least one semester completed
    • Minimum of overall GPA of at least 3.0
    • Must be a minimum of 18 years of age
