    Job Description

    Manufacturing controls system engineer to support LTCC area systems.  LTCC (Low Temperature Co-Fire Ceramic) is a multi-layer ceramic circuit board with integrated resistors. The production area for this automotive product has equipment with various controlling systems and automated optical inspection systems. 

    The controls engineer must work together with team members to maintain and improve quality and efficiency of the value stream.  Working with the automatic vision / optical information systems and also working with programming language C/C++, C# is required.  An understanding of programming logic controllers (PLC) involving Allen-Bradley and Siemens is necessary.  Expected to maintain, improve, or introduce systems to ensure performance and repeatably meet and exceed output and operational targets. Support any maintenance of operating documentation, PFMEA, and Control Plan. Support all product groups, CIP activities and Policy Deployment objectives.

    The position also requires troubleshooting and operation of production, inspection and measurement equipment, development and construction of new equipment and upgrades to existing equipment. Identify, specify, order, and implement new equipment and processes to meet future product / production demands and business objectives.

    Develop and maintain strategies using lean manufacturing principles for equipment design, workplace layouts, labor, and material flow to meet strategic goals.

    Effectively implement / coordinate engineering changes, new manufacturing / product releases, and capacity increases including PPAP preparation and build.

    Investigate and solve root causes of manufacturing process problems.

    Identify and lead projects to improve cost, quality, delivery, utilization, and safety of manufacturing processes in order to meet key metrics within the workshop.

    Apply BPS principles to the value stream to support product team, CIP, and plant goals.

    Controls engineer willing to excel as an individual and together with the LTCC team. 

    • BS in Computer / Electrical Engineering or similar field of study with 1+ years’ experience in manufacturing. 
    • Ownership of the area will require a strong personality and a self-starter with the following abilities:
    • Ability to teach and work with all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a dynamic environment.
    • Effective root cause analysis and problem identification / solving skills.
    • Discipline and consistency regarding adherence to established company standards, policies, and procedures.
    • Experience using Continuous Improvement Process principles.
    • Willing to travel nationally and internationally for training and supplier visits as required.
    • Track and evaluate key process indicators in order to implement IDC/yield improvements.
    • Maximize availability, performance and quality rate (OEE).
    • Assist in implementation of MES (manufacturing execution system) and Industry 4.0 on new and legacy equipment.
    • Good written and oral communication skills including presentations.
    • Preferred knowledge / experience with programming systems/languages of C/C++, C#, Python, SQL, PLC (Allen Bradley, Siemens) etc.
