    Job Description

    The Bosch Research and Technology Center in Sunnyvale, CA is looking for an outstanding MS or PhD student to investigate adjoint methods for simulation-based aeroacoustics design. The scope of this internship is to perform adjoint-based shape optimization for Bosch products within the context of the open-source SU2 software package for multiphysics simulation and design. In addition to practical application, the intern will implement new physical models, numerical methods, performance improvements, or adjoint formulations in the software as necessary.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Apply SU2 for performance prediction and sensitivity analysis of Bosch products.
    • Perform adjoint-based shape optimization of Bosch products.
    • Conduct research on adjoint-based techniques and implement new methods.
    • Communicate results via group presentations and a final report.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • MS or PhD candidate Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related fields.
    • Hands-on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) or other physics-based simulation experience, including pre-processing, simulation set up, and post-processing.
    • Knowledge of adjoint methods and numerical optimization, demonstrated by coursework and/or publications.
    • Experience with the open-source SU2 software for multiphysics simulation and design.
    • Strong technical, teamwork, and communication skills.
    • C++ and Python programming experience.
