Job Description
The Bosch Research and Technology Center in Sunnyvale, CA is looking for an outstanding MS or PhD student to migrate, further develop, document and publish a MATLAB based app that is used to generate chemistry lookup tables (cLUTs) for high performance reactive flow simulation and optimization. The app consists of a graphical user interface (GUI) and an underlying engine to compile cLUTs for flamelet model based reactive computational fluid dynamics (rCFD). The actual rCFD simulation is performed using the open-source CFD code SU2 (https://su2code.github.io/) on a high performance computing (HPC) cluster with thousands of computational cores.
The internship consists of two major work packages. The first one is in the context of MATLAB and the goal is to migrate the existing app from a GUIDE based interface to the modern MATLAB App Designer. Furthermore, the code shall be made ready for publishing and the app is to be streamlined with a focus on usability and performance.
The second work package focuses on evaluating different methods to generate cLUTs. In this part of the internship, novel methods to inter- and extrapolate data are developed, implemented and their prediction capabilities are investigated by compiling chemistry tables with the different implementations, running rCFD simulations using SU2, and comparing the simulation results to detailed chemistry simulation results.
