Job Description
The metrology calibration lab is responsible for all inspection, measurement, and test (IM&T) equipment and to ensure it meets all requirements for accuracy and precision. The technician defines calibration frequency and executes defined calibration procedures while documenting and summarizing the data obtained in the calibration process.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Interfaces with Manufacturing and Design Engineering along with Production to ensure inspection methods are identified and executed as required
Proper handling, use and care of plant measurement devices and inspection equipment.
Execute basic maintenance and calibration on inspection equipment
Supports production set-up, in-process and final component inspections
CMM programming and operation, dimensional metrology, measurement, and inspection methods.
Perform CMM inspection of component fixtures, gauges, and tooling as required.
Coordinates calibrations of inspection, measuring, and test equipment with third-party accredited vendors ensuring proper handling, storage, packaging, preservation, and delivery
Reviews certificates of calibration and maintains records of calibrations
Reports any deviations, nonconformities product, or in-process issues to quality management
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
•Understanding of measurement equipment and be familiar with tools such as calipers, plug gauges, ring gauges, meters, and other gauges
Strong problem solving and creative thinking skills
Proficient on the computer in the use of standard software utilities such as Excel, Word and Outlook.
Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Passion and enthusiasm for quality
Eagerness to learn new software
Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
Good written and verbal communication skills
Ability to multiply task and manage deadlines
Follows safe work practices, complies with policies and procedures, proper and safe use of equipment and tools, and identifies and reports unsafe working conditions.
Qualifications
•Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and applicable specifications.
•Excellent written, verbal, organizational and presentation skills.
•Working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
•Operational knowledge of dimensional metrology, measurement, inspection methods, and calibration strongly preferred.
•Background in quality inspection, computer science or computer programming preferred.
•Working knowledge of Advanced Product Quality Planning, Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Control Plans, and Product Part Approval Process preferred.
•Experience programming CMM machines preferred.
