    Job Description

    The Bosch Research and Technology Center in Sunnyvale, CA is looking for an outstanding PhD or MS student in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering or closely related field to contribute to new modeling approaches at the intersection of Machine Learning (ML) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).  The scope of this internship is to further develop modeling techniques that combine both data-driven and physics-based components, which have the potential to further improve simulation results without increasing computational cost.

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Perform research on combining traditional ML and CFD techniques and implement new methods.
    • Develop efficient software interfaces for embedding data-driven techniques within CFD solvers and vice-versa.
    • Consider training data from multiple sources, such as low- and high-fidelity simulation or experiment.
    • Communicate results via group presentations and a final report.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED SKILLS

    • PhD candidate in Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
    • Background in Machine Learning, demonstrated by coursework and/or publications
    • Research experience in physical-based modeling & simulation.
    • Strong technical, teamwork, and communication skills.

    DESIRED SKILLS

    • Experience with CFD simulation (pre-processing, analysis, post-processing).
    • High Performance Computing (HPC) experience.
