Job Description
Metallurgical Engineer or related engineering professional (with previous metallurgical process experience) to support metallurgical production process and laboratory analysis in a multiple shift operation in the area of metallurgy (induction heat treat) within the automotive industry.
Evaluate production process results to ensure quality and conformance of steering gear rack components with Bosch and customer specifications.
Troubleshoot various problems with the induction heat treat, tempering, crack detection and other heat treat related processes and equipment.
Interpret blueprints, production standards, and customer specifications and relate product performance to these requirements.
Write and update work instructions for heat treat and quality lab personnel
Statistical methods such as SPC (Statistical Process Control) and problem solving abilities.
Coordinate and oversee preventive maintenance plans to maximize heat treat equipment up time.
Qualifications
BS or MS in Metallurgical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with emphasis in Materials Science.
Strong Manufacturing Process Engineering experience related to heat treatments would be considered in lieu of a metallurgical engineering degree.
Expertise in Microstructural analysis of Ferrous materials with strong emphasis in induction heat treatment.
Working computer skills in Microsoft Office products – Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Demonstrates good verbal and written communication skills
