    Under limited supervision and with significant independent judgment investigate, examine, and report on financial and operational characteristics of commercial business operations to determine earned premium on coverage and other auditable exposures by performing the following duties. While the ideal candidate should be located in the greater Grand Rapids area, this is a work from home position. The territory would be 120 miles from the employee’s home office which will be based in the greater Detroit, Michigan area.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

    1. Conduct phone and/or physical premium audits to ensure that the payroll and sales figures of insured are accurately tabulated against the policy estimates for premium determination.

    2. Demonstrate that the insured is classed appropriately for all lines of business being audited.

    3. Investigate and verify the premium base exposures according to policy contract terms, manual rules, company filings, and procedures; develops and selects best audit option for insured.

    4. Build and maintain working relationships with agents, insureds, and coworkers; request information, answer questions by telephone, email and written communication; organize and lead meetings.

    5. Research, develop, and update procedures by compiling and entering data for reviews/reports and systems to ensure consistency within the audit process.

    6. May provide leadership to junior staff through guidance, training and assigning tasks. May provide input to management regarding junior staff performance.

    7. Conduct agency visits/meetings and make presentations.

    8. Perform other duties as necessary.

    Required Skills Required Experience

    • Master’s degree (M.A.) or equivalent; or six to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    • A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
