  • Responsibilities

    Under direct supervision and with limited independent judgment, performs the entry level responsibilities of various roles throughout the organization, including Claims Representative, Commercial Lines Underwriter, and Personal Lines Underwriter by performing the following duties:

     

    CLAIMS:

    1. Follows corporate policies, procedures, and fair claims handling practices
    2. Under supervision, investigates claims to determine validity and extent of liability, including:
    3. Obtains information necessary to properly investigate and evaluate each case by corresponding with agents, insureds, claimants, witnesses and others
    4. Reviews and evaluates documentation, including applications, reports, and statements
    5. Monitors appropriate claim outcomes through self-audit process
    6. Delivers superior customer service to policyholders and agents, ensuring appropriate and timely resolution of claims service issues
    7. Ensures legal, regulatory and fair claims handling compliance
    8. Sets or recommends reserves based on results of claim investigation.
    9. Within defined authority, manages, evaluates and concludes claims. Prepares and maintains claim reports.
    10. May interact with insureds, agents, claimants, attorneys, and other service providers, including:
    11. Conducts in-depth interviews and/or scene inspections
    12. Attends settlement conferences and/or trials
    13. May serve as a member of project teams, contributing to the achievement of project objectives.

     

    COMMERCIAL LINES UNDERWRITER:

    1. Reviews and evaluates insurance applications, renewals and endorsements within defined authority, approve, modify or decline risks.
    2. Determines and authorizes reinsurance, if necessary.
    3. Communicates with agents and internal staff to collect necessary information to perform risk assessment.
    4. Builds and maintains positive working relationships with agents and internal staff; assists and responds to inquiries by telephone, correspondence, and agency visits
    5. Maintains profitable business in territory through proper selection, pricing, and monitoring of business

     PERSONAL LINES UNDERWRITER:

    1. Reviews and evaluates insurance applications, renewals and endorsements to, within defined authority, approve, modify or decline risks.

    Performs other duties as assigned

    Required Skills

    Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office products especially Excel.

    Required Experience

    • Two to four years related experience and/or training; or associate's degree (A.A.) from two-year college/technical school; or equivalent combination of education and related experience/training.

    -Various states adjusters’ licenses, as required. Depending on assignment, a valid driver’s license may be required.

    -A minimum requirement for this position is the ability to work legally in the United States. No visa sponsorship/support is available for this position, including for any type of U.S. permanent residency (green card) process.
