    Covia is looking for a dynamic MINE PLANNING ENGINEER who will have a positive impact on the ENGINEERING team at its OTTAWA, IL location.  As a MINE PLANNING ENGINEER, you will develop mine and waste disposal plans and support mining and waste disposal operations for Covia plants.

     

    THE SUCCESSFUL INCUMBENT WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

     

    • Develop operational mine plans which meet all safety, quality, environmental, and economic requirements.

    • Evaluate existing mining operations and recommend improvements.

    • Monitor the implementation of mine plans and mine system improvements.

    • Participate in mine move task forces, continuous improvement teams, and other teams as assigned.

    • Develop plans for disposal of tailings and other mineral waste materials.

    • Develop reclamation plans to coincide with the mine design, development, and planning.

    • Utilize mine planning software and develop computer models as required.

    • Perform surveying in underground and surface mining operations as required.

    • Carry out the Mine Planning policies and procedures.

    • Other tasks as assigned.

    THE SUCCESSFUL INCUMBENT WILL HAVE THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in an engineering field required. (Preference Mining Engineering).
    • 1-3 years’ experience in mining or operations required.
