PATH is a global nonprofit dedicated to achieving health equity. With more than 40 years of experience forging multisector partnerships, and with expertise in science, economics, technology, advocacy, and dozens of other specialties, PATH develops and scales up innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing health challenges.

The Center of Digital and Data Excellence (CoDE) at PATH works with government ministries of health, the private sector, and donors to strengthen the use of digital technologies and data for improved health services. Digital Square is one of CoDE’s flagship global initiatives. It is PATH-led and funded by multiple donors, including USAID and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, to advance digitally enabled health services to help close the health equity gap. Conceived from the lessons of the inefficiencies and redundancies of prior investments in digital technologies for international development, Digital Square works with ministries of health to align adaptable, interoperable digital technologies with local health needs and brings partners together to improve how the global community designs, uses, and pays for digital health tools and approaches.

PATH is currently recruiting for an experienced, resourceful, and energetic COMMUNICATIONS OFFICER to support Digital Square’s efforts to share its learning and expertise, to tell its story more broadly, and to convey the impact of Digital Square’s work. The Communications Officer is an integral member of the Digital Square team who will work with team members across the initiative to fine-tune and implement Digital Square’s communications strategy and workplan for primarily an external audience. This position will be filled by a highly competent communications professional who has excellent writing skills in English, sophisticated decision-making abilities, and an open and collaborative attitude. The Communications Officer will join a robust multi-country team and will report to Digital Square’s Senior Communications Officer.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Execute and support Digital Square’s communications workplan, including the development of key messaging and content to share insights, contributions, and learning. This includes the production and/or dissemination of briefs, reports, case studies, presentations, fact sheets, talking points, infographics, videos, blog posts, social media posts, success stories, and other digital content.

    • Partner with team members to identify areas of learning, expertise, impact, and success, and translate this content into compelling communications materials for a variety of external audiences—ranging from global digital health innovators to public health officials in low- and middle-income countries.

    • Collaborate with Digital Square country implementation teams to develop a core suite of collateral about their digital health work, including success stories, presentation decks, and other overview materials.

    • Support communications about Digital Square’s portfolio of COVID-19 activities, including our partnership with the UNICEF/WHO Digital Health Centre of Excellence (DICE) and sharing best practices for adapting and scaling digital health global goods for COVID-19 response and the post-pandemic context.

    • Plan, draft, implement, and monitor social media content and campaigns with the goal of optimizing reach and engagement. Using a strong understanding of various social platforms (including Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube), create and execute on a social media strategy that is tailored to each platform and fits into Digital Square’s broader audience strategy and goals.

    • Ensure that all external communications products and activities are in-line with PATH’s and Digital Square’s communications policies; review content to ensure it is on-brand, consistent in style, quality, and tone of voice, and in compliance with donor branding and marking requirements, e.g., USAID.

    • Develop, review, and edit content for Digital Square deliverables, including copyediting and formatting as necessary, to produce high quality documents.

    • Manage external projects or collaborate on production processes and work with designers, editors, and other vendors on materials requiring professional involvement.

    • Support implementation of a communications training plan for Digital Square’s team and partner organizations, enhancing the collective ability to tell the Digital Square story.

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with PATH colleagues, donors, public and private partners, and the digital health global goods community.
