  • Responsibilities

    The Fearns lab is seeking a technician with experience in molecular biology techniques. We are seeking an individual who is proactive, organized, and thoughtful, and who will contribute to a multifaceted research laboratory. Experimental responsibilities will include performing experiments to resolve mechanism of action of antiviral small molecules. Experiments will regularly involve protein purification, biochemical assays of viral polymerase activity, virus preparation, infection and transfection of mammalian cell lines, analysis of viral RNA by polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and Northern blotting, and analysis of viral proteins by Western blotting. Additional tasks will include maintenance of laboratory organization, ordering, and ensuring laboratory safety. All work will be performed at biosafety level 2.

    Required Skills

    • BS/BA required, experience with cellular and molecular biology techniques such as cell culture, transfections, Western blotting, RNA analysis would be highly valued
