    We are seeking a creative and motivated postdoctoral research associate to join our lab within The Department of Dermatology at the Boston University School of Medicine and participate in our active research program in the Laboratory of Skin Development, Regeneration and Carcinogenesis. The project will be focusing on delineating signaling/transcription factor-mediated and epigenetic mechanisms controlling epithelial stem cell activity and differentiation in the skin during development and postnatal homeostasis (for references, see Nature Cell Biol, 1999, 1, 158-64; EMBO J, 2003, 22, 2992-3003, PNAS, 2005, 102, 93-98; PNAS, 2006, 103, 18166-71; J Cell Biol, 2011, 194, 825-39; Development, 2014, 141, 101-11; J Cell Biol, 2016, 212, 77-89).

    The laboratory projects will involve a wide range of collaborative work including molecular biology, RNAseq/ ChIPseq/microarray analyses, in vivo genetically engineered mouse model studies, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization, laser capture microdissection and in vitro/ex vivo assays.

     

    Applicants will be expected to design experiments, analyze and interpret data, and compile data into presentations and manuscripts. The candidate’s salary will be commensurate with research experience and will receive benefits package provided by the Boston University.

    Requirements:

     

    Candidates should have Ph.D. (or equal degree) in molecular biology or a related field and have a strong interest in skin biology research. The applicant should have experience with molecular biology techniques, as well as common methods in the field of genetics/epigenetics. Applicants must possess excellent communication skills and be fluent in both spoken and written English. Critical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work semi-independently as a member of a team are required. Experience analyzing next generation RNA and DNA sequencing data, knowledge of statistical methods, bioinformatics concepts/methods, genomic data tools and databases are beneficial. Laboratory techniques include: cloning; immunohistochemistry; immunofluorescence; confocal microscopy, Western Blot. Experience in transgenic mouse models and expertise in chromatin biology/epigenetics are considered a strength.
