    HealthFitness has an exciting opportunity for a BUSINESS MANAGER with our new client Babson College located approximately 15 miles west of Boston in Wellesley, MA.  Babson College is preparing to open a new modern, multi-use recreation and athletic center in the Fall of 2019.  The new center will nearly double the size of Babson’s current athletics and recreation facilities, improve the quality and quantity of available fitness equipment and strengthen the overall experience for Babson students, faculty & staff and local community.  The new 75,000 sqft addition will feature:

     

    • A large, two-story fitness and recreation area with state-of-the-art cardio equipment and weight room
    • Multipurpose studio spaces for yoga, dance, and aerobics classes
    • Dedicated varsity locker rooms, expanded sports medicine area, and an advanced strength, cardio, and conditioning area for varsity sports teams
    • Three courts for recreational sports
    • Improved locker room facilities for all students
    • Large, flexible space to host major college events in any season

     

    In this position, you will be responsible for supporting the Director of Recreation for a variety of business and administrative functions within a highly entrepreneurial campus recreation environment.  You will contribute to the department’s overall leadership, decision making, policy development, vision, mission and strategic planning.  You will assist in establishing a sustainable business operational plan within the new facility as well as support the operational strategy in the delivery of programs, services and administrative support across all fields and facilities that comprise the Babson Recreation and Athletic Complex (BRAC), including the skating center, outdoor tennis center, outdoor fields and summer camps. 

     

    In this position, you will assist in the development and execution of short and long-term planning associated with existing revenue streams, identifying new revenue opportunities, development of financial projections, recommending and implementing business process improvement, sourcing and procuring equipment and supplies, and lead the departments marketing strategy and efforts. You will serve as a senior member of the Recreation management team and may occasionally serve on behalf of the Director. This position requires high level of autonomy and independence in the development, analysis and reporting of business functions for the department. 

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Develop, assess and evaluate current business practices, aspirational goals, and objectives to guide departmental priorities.
    • Oversee department data collection tools and methodologies geared towards assessing business practices and participant satisfaction; collaborate with program coordinator to ensure recreation is meeting the needs of participants, the mission of the department, and of the College.
    • Develop a long-term fiscal strategy and forecast, in collaboration with the Director and BRAC Administrators, considering market trends and variables and unique factors impacting higher education and campus.
    • Full reconciliation of cash, check, charge and internal journal voucher on a weekly and monthly basis. Makes financial deposits as needed.  Tracks and reports out on all of revenue and expense.
    • Provide audit support relating to financial inquiries from HealthFitness, BRAC and the Babson College campus.
    • Conducts on their own and assists the Director and program Coordinators in the development of market analysis for existing programs, services and rates.
    • Assists the Director in the forecasting and tracking of revenue & expense and ability to provide analysis in order to make recommendations to the Director.
    • Responding to and promptly resolving disputed credit card charges.
    • Assist in the development and review of departmental contracts relating to equipment, service and sponsorship.
    • Work with HealthFitness and the College’s financial services team to ensure processes and procedures for budgets are aligned for productivity and long-term fiscal strategies.
    • Collaborate with program coordinators to establish revenue generation goals and initiatives.
    • Enhance the entrepreneurial and strategic planning process to develop department-wide collaborations and support leading to actionable outcomes in line with department vision and goals.
    • Responsible for oversight and generation of revenue through marketing, partnerships, facility rental to internal and external user groups, sponsorship, and programming.
    • Develop marketing strategy, brand and/or style guides in accordance with BRAC and Babson College Marketing Team.
    • Lead development of marketing collateral using HealthFitness marketing on-demand toolkit and other available resources.
    • Serving on College and Department committees as a representative of Recreation.
    • Assists in the coordination of onsite logistics for all special events, rentals, off campus guests, and visiting VIP’s.
    • Develops reports specific to the operational, financial, and risk related needs of the department.
    • Serving on Student Affairs and University-wide committees and work teams.
    • Point of contact for procurement of all department supplies & equipment.
    • Other duties as needed/assigned.

     

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS:

     

    REQUIRED:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Sports Management, Recreation Management, or related field.
    • 5 years of relevant experience.
    • Strong interpersonal, customer service and communication skills.
    • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
    • Strategic thinker with experience capturing and analyzing data to make informed decisions and recommendations.
    • Proficient with computer and industry relevant technology.
    • Ability to work effectively with all levels of individuals both within HealthFitness and the client organization.
    • Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications from the AHA or American Red Cross required or obtained within 60 days of hire.

     

    PREFERRED:

    • Experience with data collection, point of sale, presentation and assessment systems (ex: Microsoft Office, SAP, Tableau, Innosoft Fusion, EMS).
    • Experience cultivating external partnerships in support of revenue generation.
    • Familiarity of the regional market in the setting of rates, fees and identification of services and trends.

  • Qualifications

    Associate's or Vocational Degree and 1-3 years' of experience required. Bachelor's Degree preferred.
