    HealthFitness has an exciting opportunity for a part time (5-29 hrs/wk) SPORTS OFFICIAL with our new client Babson College located approximately 15 miles west of Boston in Wellesley, MA.  Babson College is preparing to open a new modern, multi-use recreation and athletic center in the Fall of 2019.  The new center will nearly double the size of Babson’s current athletics and recreation facilities, improve the quality and quantity of available fitness equipment and strengthen the overall experience for Babson students, faculty & staff and local community.  The new 75,000sqft addition will feature:

     

    • A large, two-story fitness and recreation area with state-of-the-art cardio equipment and weight room
    • Multipurpose studio spaces for yoga, dance, and aerobics classes
    • Dedicated varsity locker rooms, expanded sports medicine area, and an advanced strength, cardio, and conditioning area for varsity sports teams
    • Three courts for recreational sports
    • Improved locker room facilities for all students
    • Large, flexible space to host major college events in any season

     

    In this position, you will officiate intramural recreational leagues on a seasonal basis while serving the Babson College student community. 

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

    • Officiate the games and instruct players on the rules of the game as necessary.
    • Each referee is responsible for maintaining their own uniform.
    • Referee two consecutive one hour games up to 3 nights per week.
    • Reports any problems with games and/or players to the site Competitive Sports & Aquatics Coordinator.
    • Officiate the recreational games while keeping a professional playing atmosphere.
    • Accountability and punctuation to each game is a high priority.
    • Other duties as needed/assigned.

     

    EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS:

     

    • Sports official license preferred.
    • CPR/AED/first aid certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross preferred.
    • Professional, reliable, and people friendly.

  • Qualifications

    Bachelor's degree, a minimum of two to five years of experience in a detail-oriented profession, strong analytical and organizational skills, effective problem solving skills, strong communication and leadership skills, ability to work well in a fast-paced team environment, ability to motivate and supervise direct reports. Preferences: prior knowledge of federal and state financial aid policies and procedures, including familiarity with lending regulations and loan certification; prior supervisory experience.
