    Position Overview:

    The primary responsibility of this position is to reassemble used and new steering gears to meet new specifications and quality standards. The individual must be able to work under close supervision. Responsibilities cited below are considered essential job functions:

    Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

    • Adhere to established safety procedures and 5 “ S ” standards (Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize and Sustain the cycle) required to perform daily duties in this position, including the proper techniques used in lifting/moving of parts
    • Select component parts to assemble in accordance to the blue prints or instructions, inspect parts for damage and/or imperfections
    • Ensure tolerances are accurate by using the appropriate indicators such as gages, micrometers, dimentionaire, plug gages, air tools, hand torque, wrenches, job blocks and/or V-blocks
    • Operate machines required for pre-assembly operations, magnafux machines, thrust washer machines, vertical drills, man-o-meters, parts washers, drill presses and Pressure Relief Valve (PRV) setting machines.
    • Assemble and fasten components according to plans, maintaining required quality standards
    • Coordinate parts using an assembly schedule
    • Visually inspect assembled products to identify component and product issues and inform the supervisor as needed
    • Input data entry transactions and retrieve information by using a computer
    • Perform basic tool and machine maintenance including checking oil levels and minor repairs
    • Train employees in lower class assembly positions, as necessary.
    • Other duties as assigned; required being very flexible in their daily job assignments; cross-training is a must to assure this flexibility

     

     

    Skills/Qualifications:

    • Communication skills, ability to read, write and comprehend instruction
    • Ability to stand, stoop, bend, walk, reach frequently throughout the workday
    • Ability to lift items up to 70lbs without assistance
    • Manual dexterity
    • Mechanical aptitude
    • Experience operating manual/powered pallet jack
    • Knowledge of shop mathematics and blue print reading
    • PC skills

     

    Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

    General shop and machine tool noise, dirt, grease, and coolants from the operation of machine tools and assembly of machines and equipment. Normal working position is standing or walking through out the plant. Some repetitive lifting/moving is required, depending on the daily assignment or tasks being performed. The weight can range anywhere from 1 to 75 lbs in which proper lifting/moving techniques are required.

     

     

    Standard Shift Hours:

    Monday - Friday: 6am - 2pm Core Hours + OT

  • Qualifications

    Two years of college or equivalent, B.A./B.S. preferred, ability to multi-task, prove initiative and adhere to deadlines, ability to interpret Feld Center policies, such as service eligibility and authorization, which requires the ability to exercise independent judgment and discretion, demonstrated responsibility for managing confidential information, ability to handle constant interruptions from various constituencies, strong customer service and communication skills, proficiency in MS Office and one to three years of related experience.
