    HealthFitness has an exciting new opportunity for an Human Resources Business Partner. Reporting to the Head of HR, this role is part of a dynamic team providing strategic HR partnership to business leaders and associates across the US. This position is a work from home position and can be located anywhere in the continental U.S.

    The successful individual in this role is collaborative and has excellent interpersonal skills; builds strong and trusting relationships with associates and leaders at all levels; follows through on commitments; is consultative and practices active listening; is curious and can drill into details yet also see the big picture and impacts; and can recognize the nuance in situations and relationships and can adapt accordingly.

    This role will be engaged in the following areas, with a main focus on employee relations and multi-state regulatory compliance.

    EMPLOYEE RELATIONS:

    • Provides coaching on the performance improvement process and effective strategies to monitor and improve performance.
    • Manages and resolves complex employee relations issues; conducts effective, thorough and objective investigations.
    • Provides HR policy guidance and interpretation.

    PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT:

    • Advises and supports the quarterly performance management process and supporting system and documenting development needs.
    • Recognizes differing levels of performance and coaches managers on the need to handle it proactively. Ensures managers can understand and use the link between performance and reward.

     

    BUSINESS PARTNER:

    • Understands the business goals, issues and challenges for and establishes effective relationships with leaders.
    • Creates influence by developing and getting consensus to relevant HR solutions; being results driven and showing an appropriate sense of urgency; maintaining confidential information; and getting the basics right.
    • Coaches managers on how to engage their associates through communication, development, recognition and rewards.

    LEGAL/COMPLIANCE:

    • Serves as internal subject matter authority for compliance questions. Conduct research and maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
    • Tracks and informs the business of changes in Federal, state and local employment laws and regulations.
    • Partners with Trustmark Law and External Legal Counsel as appropriate.
    • Proactively identifies policy and process implications of regulatory changes and supports the development and/or modification of new policies and processes required to maintain compliance.

     STRATEGIC INITIATIVES:

    • Enable the successful execution of critical initiatives to support the needs of the business and/or corporate initiative. Examples include utilizing Strategic Workforce Planning; People Equity Survey; Succession Planning, Change Management; etc.

     

    REQUIREMENTS 

    In addition to the skills listed above, this position requires the following: 

    • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5 years Human Resources experience in a multi-state environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Working knowledge of multiple human resources subject areas with a heavy emphasis on employee relations and performance management.
    • Demonstrated experience in development of performance improvement plans, employment investigations, policy interpretation and compliance.
    • Shown ability to develop effective business relationships across all levels of the organization.
    • Ability to influence others through consultation and coaching.
    • Solid business judgment and decision making skills, including the ability to know when to advance issues.
    • Demonstrated clear and effective written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work independently, organize and prioritize work.
    • Thorough knowledge of federal and state laws governing employment including, but not limited to AA, EEO, ADA, FLSA, ADEA, FMLA and state equivalents.
    • Computer proficiency including Microsoft Office.

     ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Multi-state experience in 10 or more states including CA, IL, MA, MN, NH, NY, OH, PA, TX and WI strongly preferred.
    • Prior Generalist experience including HR systems and reporting, recruiting, compensation and benefits (including leaves) and organizational development.
    • PHR or SPHR certification.
    • Relevant health & wellness industry experience a plus.
