  • Responsibilities

    HealthFitness has an exciting new opportunity available for a full-time, benefits eligible (30 hours per week) MEMBERSHIP SPECIALIST within the Harvard University Recreation program located in Cambridge, MA.  In this position, you will assist with managing the membership services functions of Harvard Recreation. Additionally, you will assist in memberships sales and provide services that are above and beyond for customer satisfaction. 

     

     

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Greeting and assisting members/potential members, providing program information services and membership information.

    • Responsible for registering patrons for memberships and lockers.

    • Knowledge of all Harvard Recreation membership policies.

    • Assist with all member service administration and processes, answer phone calls, emails, and process membership enrollments.

    • Efficiently respond to client and participant requests, comments or concerns and bring issues to timely and appropriate resolution.

    • Collects membership fees and performs related recordkeeping.

    • Compile financial data for review as requested.

    • Assist with the development of membership policies and procedures.

    • Be a well-informed resource to members, prospects and co-workers.

    • Assist with membership tours and communicate information about the facility, programs and services that are offered.

    • Assist with conflict resolution for members.

    • Communicate effectively with members on their feedback.

    • Exhibit superior customer service at all times.

    • Assist with the up-keep on the member services portal (Fusion) as related to membership and point of sale items.

    • Assist with creating membership profiles for members and guests.

    • Serve as Manager on Duty as needed.

    • Assist with duties throughout the facility as needed.

    • Oversee Conference room scheduling for Programs, Varsity Athletes, Coaches and Management Staff.

    • Assist with the execution of internal and external promotions, special events and programs.

    • Assist with project as assigned by the Membership Coordinator.

     

     

    EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS:

    REQUIRED:

    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Minimum of 2 years of customer service experience.
    • Basic computer and point of sale knowledge.
    • CPR/AED and first aid certification from the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or American Safety &  Health Institute required within 90 days of hire.
    • Strong interpersonal communication and customer service skills including the ability to motivate others.
    • Competency in the delivery of HealthFitness and site-specific programs and services.
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team with enthusiasm, initiative and creativity.
    • Must possess excellent organizational and time management skills.
    • This site requires a COVID-19 vaccination for all associates. Proof of vaccination will be a condition of employment.

     

    PREFERRED:

    • Experience working in college athletics.
    • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work demands.
    • Ability to work effectively with all levels of individuals both within HealthFitness and the client organization.
    • Experience with Innosoft Fusion recreation management software is a plus.

    JD required and 7 to 10 years of related work experience.
