  • Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY: The Activities Aide assists in planning, organizing and directing activity programs for the residents. Activities may include sports, dramatics, nature study, social activities, games and arts and crafts in accord with resident needs. The Activities Aide prepares reports on resident’s progress as may be required.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

    Certified Nurses Assistant (CNA) training preferred.

    At least 18 years of age.

    Past experience working with the elderly.

    Special qualifications include a sincere interest and concern for the well being of the elderly person.

    CPR and First Aid training required.

    Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word and ability to communicate verbally and in written form.

    Ability to calculate figures and amounts.

    SCHEDULE:

    Shifts vary Days and evening hours Must be able to work some weekend shifts.

    Full time working 8:00am to 3:30pm and/or 11:00am to 6:30pm

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/REQUIREMENTS:

    Schedules monthly activities under the supervision of the Activities Coordinator.

    Provides Activities Director with a list of needed supplies.

    Maintains accurate records of all proceedings and transactions pertaining to residents.

    Implements programs to fit individual needs.

    Responsible for all applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the governing organizations.

    Interacts with other departments such as Nursing, Maintenance, CNA’s, Nutritional Services, Activities Director, other activities aides, Environmental Services and Social Services.

    Keeps records of resident participation/response and assessments sheets.

    Responsible for maintaining resident’s rights.

    Completes annual review and keeps current CPR certification and PPD.

    Maintains required education credits as per facility policy and as set forth for the Extended Care Facility.

    Receives and places confidential information with courtesy, accuracy and respect at all times.

    Communicates to nursing staff unusual behaviors or conditions of residents.

    Monitors the physical environment of the Extended Care Facility and notifies by appropriate means the departments responsible.

    Adheres to the guidelines set forth in the facilities Personnel and Policy and Procedure Manuals.

    Ability to respond properly and follow Facilities Plan in an emergency situation and/or disaster.

    NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/REQUIREMENTS:

    Adheres to uniform and hygiene requirements as set forth in the Personnel Policy Manual.

    Encourages community involvement in resident activities.

    Responsible for current decorations that are appropriate for ECF that promotes visual stimulation.

    Responsible for providing “reminisce” group notes, “seen and heards” and other pertinent information for the newsletter.

    Responsible for keeping work area neat and clean.

    Other duties as assigned.
