POSITION SUMMARY:
The primary purpose of this position is to carry out Nutrition Services functions in accordance with established procedures and as may be directed by the Nutrition Services Manager, to ensure that the highest standard of Nutrition services are maintained at all times. The Nutritional Aide is responsible for a variety of duties and services to ensure appetizing food is prepared and served according to policies and procedures of the Nutritional Services Department by maintaining all regulated dietary standards and infection control.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Idaho Food Handlers Certification required (can be obtained upon hire)
One (1) year previous Food Service experience preferred, but not required
High school diploma or GED required
Computer skills, keyboard 20 wpm to complete required online training
SCHEDULE:
Full time works 30 to 40 hrs per week
Weekday shifts: 10:30 am - 7:00 pm
Every other weekend shifts: 1:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Occasional overtime may be required.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintain a willingness and ability to adapt to a changing work environment and seek out new methods and principles to incorporate into existing practices.
Responsible for use of good body mechanics.
Report all requests, problems, and concerns to your supervisor.
Serve meals that are appetizing in appearance and timely according to meal schedule.
Set up special requests for our patients and residents.
Set dining room for meals.
Buss dining room tables.
Wash and store dishes.
Assist in storing deliveries of food, supplies, etc., as necessary, using FIFO method.
Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times.
Responsible for setting up catered coffee carts, comfort trays/carts for Patients and residents and guests.
Responsible for cleaning and stripping the carts after meals.
Assist in food set up for special meals or other special functions, etc..
Complete cleaning per department guidelines.
May assist cook in setting up meals or some food prep.
Responsible for the preparation of snacks for patients.
Responsible for being the back up for all phases of the Nutritional Services Department.
Responsible for filling and delivering of requisitions.
Set up and deliver snacks as instructed.
Perform dishwashing/cleaning procedures. Assure that small wares are readily available for the next meal.
Assure that dining rooms are restocked for the next meal and resident requested snacks.
Follow job routines in completing and performing your assigned tasks.
Works accurately and with enough speed to complete the required tasks within the allotted time.
Assure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
Responsible for practicing proper food handling, according to HACCP standards and within the guidelines set by the Idaho Diet Manual and Food Code.
Addresses patients, visitors and co-workers in a pleasant and respectful manner.
Responsible for attendance according to the BCH Attendance Policy.
Other as deemed necessary and appropriate, or as may be directed by the NS Manager.
Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as situations require to maintain Infection Control standards set by the Hospital.
Must submit to COVID testing as required by CMS.
NON ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible for mechanical equipment operations, cleaning and safety.
Responsible for regularly performing daily and weekly kitchen cleaning tasks.
Responsible for stocking items (i.e. condiments, lids, juices, etc.).
Assists in putting away clean dishes.
Responsible for following the dress code according to the policy.
Be aware of and follow facility safety and infection control policies and procedures, and take action to correct and prevent problems.
Receives and places confidential information with courtesy, accuracy and respect at all times.
Attending regularly scheduled dietary in-services and departmental meetings.
All other duties as assigned.
