Materials Management Technician/Materials Management/Full-time
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Materials Technician is responsible for receiving, logging, and delivering incoming shipments as well as filling and delivering requisitioned supplies hospital wide in a timely manner while keeping the storerooms organized, stocked, and clean.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
High school diploma or GED equivalency.
Two (2) years experience in purchasing or a health related field preferred.
Proficient on Ten Key and 35 wpm keyboarding.
Experience with Meditech or other MMIS preferred.
Knowledge of medical supplies is helpful.
SCHEDULE:
40 hrs per week, Monday – Friday; Hours vary with the needs of the department.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/REQUIREMENTS:
Shipping and Receiving Duties:
Receives and logs in shipments.
Reports and records shipping errors or shipping damages.
Responsible for ensuring all purchase orders are reconciled to the packing slip documentation.
Responsible for receipt and delivery of shipments to the appropriate department and/or places them in the proper place in the appropriate store room.
Enters and receives all Meditech system generated purchase orders keeping packing and receiving slips organized.
Prepares return goods for shipping, including all paperwork required, and ships return.
Inventory Control and Maintenance Duties:
Coordinate supplies and equipment for all areas of the hospital and assist with Par levels. Coordinate with department managers on par levels, ordering, etc.
Responsible for maintaining all stock in store rooms at par levels.
Organizes workload for filling and delivering requisitioned supplies to departments in a timely manner.
Responsible for decrementing inventory within the Meditech system.
Ensures proper coding of department numbers and charge numbers on requisitions.
Identifies and labels billable products to ensure capture of charges.
Maintains sterile surgery supply inventory par levels.
Responsible for tracking unfilled requisitioned items and filling these backorders as available.
Assures the accuracy of computerized inventory information.
Assists in maintaining Item and Stock Dictionaries in the MMIS.
Assists with Annual Physical Inventory.
Keeps storeroom clean and organized at all times.
Purchasing Duties:
Work independently to purchase disposable, non-disposable, and minor equipment supplies as needed on a daily basis in accordance with Hospital Financial Policies by creating and placing purchase orders for medical/surgical, office, or ancillary materials with the proper financial approvals.
Utilize a basic knowledge of the Group Purchasing Organization and associated pricing contracts by referencing the GPO online Contract Catalog to ensure best pricing.
Responsible for order tracking and following up on backordered items on a daily basis.
Treats all purchasing information confidentially and adheres to HIPPA regulations.
Maintains Asset Inventory Book and Online Spreadsheet.
