    POSITION TITLE: Mammography Technician

    SUPERVISED BY: Diagnostic Imaging Director

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Mammography Technologist is responsible for the operation of the mammography machine and fulfilling necessary weekly quality assurance tests, as well as presenting correct and accurate Images.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

    Certified by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Radiography, Active Status.

    American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, Active Digital Mammography Certification required

    Minimum experience one (1) year in field

    Must have a good working knowledge of breast anatomy, physics and methods of exposures to obtain clearly defined images and operate equipment

    Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, EIM software, preferably Meditech & keyboard 30 wpm.

    CPR certification.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/REQUIREMENTS:

    Schedules patients for mammogram over the phone or in person.

    Performs weekly quality assurance tests and documents results (Pursuant to M.Q.S.A. Regulations), reporting any test problems to supervisor for corrective action.

    Greets patients, fills out questionnaire, performs the mammogram exam & critiques images.

    Addresses patients/residents, visitors and co-workers in a pleasant and respectful manner.

    Receives and places confidential information with courtesy, accuracy and respect at all times.

    Responsible for making sure charges on the requisition are correctly circled and placed in proper boxes.

    Makes sure all information on personal history questionnaire is complete and accurate.

    Practices aseptic techniques, cleaning the Array compression paddle and face shield between each patient.

    Protects patient from unnecessary radiation by properly performing the mammographic exam as accurately as possible.

    Acts responsibly on behalf of the care and safety of patients undergoing mammograms.

    React properly and follow correct policy and procedure in an emergency and/or disaster.

    Demonstrate supportive, sympathetic, encouraging and be professional demanding with patients..

    Perform mammography quality assurance to adhere to the American College of Radiology (M.Q.S.A.) Standards

    · Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as situations require to maintain Infection Control standards set by the Hospital.
