    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Nutritional Aide/Cook is responsible for a variety of duties and services to ensure appetizing food is prepared and served according to policies and procedures of the Nutritional Services Department by maintaining all regulated dietary standards and infection control.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

    Idaho Food Safety and Sanitation certification required (can be obtained upon hire)

    One (1) year experience in a cafeteria /restaurant preferred.

    High school diploma or GED required

    Computer skills, keyboard 20 wpm to complete required online training

    SCHEDULE:

    Schedule will vary with the needs of the department. Possible shifts ranging between 5am and 7pm/7 days a week.

    AIDE ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/REQUIREMENTS:

    Serve meals that are appetizing in appearance and timely according to meal schedule.

    Set dining room for meals, buss dining room tables, wash and store dishes.

    Set up, Serve and take down our Employee Lunch Cafeteria Meals (M-F).

    Storing freight 1-2 times a week.

    Restocking areas throughout hospital with snacks and supplies.

    Restocking areas within the Kitchen.

    Responsible for washing and storing dishes and Pots and Pans.

    Setting up evening Snack cart for our Long Term care residents.

    Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times.

    Assure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.

    Assist in set up for special meals or other special functions, etc.

    Complete cleaning per department guidelines.

    Responsible for being the back up for all Nutrition Aide positions.

    Works accurately and with enough speed to complete the required tasks within the allotted time.

    Responsible for practicing proper food handling, according to HACCP standards and within the guidelines set by the Idaho Diet Manual and Food Code.

    Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as situations require to maintain Infection Control standards set by the Hospital.

    Must submit to COVID testing as required by CMS.

    COOK ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Maintain a willingness and ability to adapt to a changing work environment and seek out new methods and principles to incorporate into existing practices.

    Communicate requests, problems, and concerns to your supervisor.

    Establishes a time line to assure that meals are prepared and served on time.

    Prepare and serve quality food according to HACCP standards and within the guidelines set by the Idaho Diet Manual, Food Code, and BCH policies & Procedures.

    Demonstrate the ability to assess a situation, offer suggestions, and choose an appropriate course of action to correct the problem.

    Demonstrate a conscious effort in daily operations through portion control and waste reduction.

    Prepare food according to standardized recipes and food production sheets.

    Must be able to function independently, have flexibility, and the ability to work effectively with personnel and support staff.

    Be able to follow written and oral instructions.

    Prepare foods for all therapeutic diets and textures, by following approved process, recipes and procedures.

    Insure temperature of all food items meet standards.

    Assure that assigned work areas are maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary manner.
