    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Staff Respiratory Therapist/Technician should be able to serve as a clinical resource to nursing services and the physicians, as well as to the patients/residents. Technical responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the set-up, operation and maintenance of all forms of spontaneous and controlled breathing devices. In addition, the Staff Respiratory Therapist/Technician will serve as a training resource for other departments and assist the Director with giving in-service education classes. The Staff Respiratory Therapist/Technician will also be responsible for performing routine respiratory therapy treatment, the diagnostic will include, but is not limited to, pulmonary function screens, methacholines, blood gases, punctures and analysis, with equipment maintenance, electrocardiograms and cardiac stress testing holter application and scan and also function as a full member of the resuscitation team.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

    Graduate of an approved school of respiratory therapy required.

    Certified or registered by the National Board of Respiratory Care preferred.

    Hold current license from the Idaho State Board of Medicine.

    Six (6) months previous experience in respiratory care.

    Maintain BLS (Basic Life Support and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) skills level to include intubations.

    Must keyboard 30wpm be proficient on Outlook and have previous experience on electronic medical records systems (EMR) preferably Meditech.

    SCHEDULE:

    Per Diem Position Schedule varies with the needs of the department and availability of employee. Will participate in weekend and call rotations.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/REQUIREMENTS:

    Responsible for drawing blood and assessment for arterial blood gases.

    Responsible for patient/resident application and computer analysis of holter monitor.

    Responsible for stress tests: patient/resident application, knowledge of rhythms, blood pressures and troubleshooting.

    Responsible for proper application and assessment of EKG’s.

    Responsible for pulmonary function and methacholine test.

    Responsible for home oxygen: knowledge of national regulations, set up, maintenance.

    Responsible for King of Hearts monitor: application, patient/resident teaching and assessments.

    Responsible for placing oral and nasal airways in emergency and non-emergency situations.

    Responsible for a wide knowledge of respiratory equipment.

    Responsible for knowledge of computer programs.

    Responsible for patient/resident teaching concerning asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, emphysema, bronchitis, holter monitor use and King of Hearts monitor.
