  • Responsibilities

    POSITION SUMMARY: The Certified Nurse’s Assistant is responsible for delivering basic care to patients in a safe and timely manner based on the Policies and Philosophies of the facility. He/she will be supervised in all aspects of that care.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:

    Current Idaho certification for Nurse Assistant (unless enrolled in the CNA program).

    Current CPR certification (may obtain upon hire)

    High School diploma or GED required

    Minimum 1 year CNA work experience required.

    Previous work experience (in any field) preferred for verification of attendance and performance.

    Must Keyboard at 20 wpm and be proficient on Outlook and Microsoft word, experience on Electronic Medical Records system is helpful.

    SCHEDULE:

    Per Diem shifts 16 – 40 hrs per week as directed by Nurse Manager (Per Diem)

    Shifts may vary, including weekends, depending on schedule

    Current openings include All Shifts, Night Shift only.

    ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/REQUIREMENTS:

    Assesses patient’s physical and emotional needs.

    Follows the care plan developed by the RN.

    Obtains and records to include, but not limited to, vital signs, weight, Accu-cheks and intake/output.

    Transfers patients to and from, either assisted or unassisted, with all the following: bed, wheelchair, chair, stretcher, examination table, commode, scales, lifts and floor.

    Repositions patient if in a bed, wheelchair, chair, stretcher, examination table, commode, scales and floor.

    Provides a safe, clean and comfortable environment for patients.

    Reports all necessary/abnormal information about the patient to the charge nurse and/or physician.

    Follows instructions received from licensed staff (RN’s, LPN’s, Physicians).

    Participates in code situations as directed by charge nurse.

    Prioritizes, presenting problems to be handled during shift.

    Address, with supporting documentation, any questions or concerns regarding patient care with the charge nurse and/or physician.

    Addresses patients, visitors and co-workers in a pleasant, respectful manner and displays courtesy at all times.

    Maintains at all times patient’s rights.

    Receives and places confidential information with courtesy, accuracy and respect at all times.

    Adheres to the guidelines set forth in the facilities Personnel Policy Manual and Policy and Procedure Manuals.

    Completes annual review and keeps BLS certification current.

    Maintains required education credits per facility policy.

    Adheres to uniform and hygiene requirements as set forth in the Personnel Policy Manual.

    Reacts properly and follow correct policy and procedure in an emergency and/or disaster.

    Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as situations require to maintain Infection control standards set by the Hospital.

    NON-ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/REQUIREMENTS:

    Documents in nurse’s notes when and where appropriate pertinent information.

    Must be willing to assist in other areas as the need arises.

    Stocks supplies.

    Attends at least 50% of staff meetings.

    Cleans equipment.

    Other duties as delegated.
