    Profile Summary

    The Family Engagement Coordinator will serve as a liaison between the school administrators, faculty, staff, students’ parents, and the Green County Boys & Girls Club 21st Century Community Learning Center (CCLC) initiative. This key position will improve communication between the school and the students’ families; promote parent engagement in their children’s education, and to encourage greater community involvement in the school.

    Our ultimate goal is to assist parents in becoming more involved with their children’s education and to promote a sense of community.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    Responsibilities will include coordinating family events/workshops during the evenings and participating in the school's PTO, School Improvement Team, School Committee meetings, and other appropriate committees.

    Provide enrichment programming for the after-school program to better form relationships with the children as an entry to meeting their parents.

    Responsibilities will also include assisting the Unit Director as needed daily with after-school initiatives at the Green County 21st Century Learning Center Boys & Girls Club Unit.

    Work closely with the schools and the community to ensure strong communication and partnership between schools/community and BGC 21st CCLC initiative.

    Plan, execute, and reflect on family/community events and workshops/training based on family/community needs for the schools served in Green County.

    Coordinate incentives such as field trips, awards, games, and other fun family engagement activities to encourage family participation in school-related events.

    Conduct outreach to parents to encourage their participation in school life-PTO, School Improvement Team, volunteerism, Parent/Teacher conferences, school events, their children’s attendance in the after-school program, etc.

    Plan and teach enrichment or educational programs in the after-school program.

    Work collaboratively with the Unit Director, to promote program/event participation, community involvement, and other shared responsibilities. Disseminate and collect appropriate evaluation data (attendance, surveys, etc.) necessary for evaluation activities.

    Review and monitor tracking tool and utilize data to manage student attendance and family participation/volunteerism and retention.

    Skills and Abilities

    Bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited institution of higher learning.

    At least five years of direct youth service experience and will have a demonstrable record of planning and implementing youth programs.

    Previous experience working with at-risk youth is preferred, as is a background in education.

    Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

    Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with all types of people.

    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Club staff, Board Members, volunteers, community groups, and other related agencies.

    Knowledge of accessing and utilizing donor database, Microsoft Office, Publisher.

    Strong time management and project prioritization skills.

    Demonstrate knowledge in community-based programs with a clear understanding of urban issues and communities.

    Strong working knowledge of Microsoft applications. Youth Development experience and a working knowledge of Microsoft applications.

    Must be adaptable to meet the needs of the families in the program in addition to working flexible hours to accommodate work in the evening.

    RELATIONSHIPS:

    Internal: Maintain oral and/or written contact with the Development Team, Management Team, volunteers, and Board of Trustees for the purpose of developing and managing grant proposals.

    External: Maintain oral and/or written contact with school administrators, faculty, staff, students’ parents, organizations leaders, and others for the purpose of encouraging greater community involvement in the school cultivation, successful resource development, and raising the visibility and positive reputation of BGCGC in the community.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

    Minimal physical effort is required to sit, stand, bend, stoop, lift and walk. Maximum unassisted lift = 50lbs. Average lift less than 25lbs. Requires the ability to use a computer, various software and database programs, keyboard, calculator, and typical office machines. Requires traveling by car to club facilities and community sites for meetings.

    ENVIRONMENT:

    Inside average office environment. Average office noise levels. Safety requirements include face masks and shields, as part of COVID 19 organizational guidelines. Ambient temperature between 68 and 76F. Daily outdoor activity is required.
