Program Director- Jack Minges Club
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Unit Director, the Program Director is responsible for overseeing the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of a specific program for youth between the ages of 6 and 18 within a designated Club. Program responsibility supports our priority outcome areas of Academic Success, Healthy Lifestyles, Good Character and Citizenship. The Program Director also provides leadership and supervision to assigned program leaders and volunteers; manages budgets and controls expenses as assigned.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Plan and oversee the administration of designated Club programs and activities that support Priority Outcomes.
Establish Club program objectives consistent with organizational goals and mission.
Oversee the provision of day-to-day program activities in accordance with established standards and goals.
Ensure that members are encouraged to participate in a variety of program areas/activities and receive instruction and constructive feedback to develop skills in program area(s).
Demonstrate leadership to assure conduct, safety and development of members.
Program Development and Implementation
Establish and maintain Club program goals and setting that ensure the health and safety of members. Ensure that leaders understand and effectively communicate standards of program; that they ensure program areas are safe, well ventilated and well lit; and that Club equipment is maintained in good working condition.
Ensure the evaluation of Club programs on a continual basis and ensures program/activities respond to member needs and address their gender and cultural diversity.
Control Club program and activity expenditures within approved budget.
Supervision
Allocate and monitor work assigned to program leaders and volunteers, providing ongoing feedback and regular appraisal. Identify and support training and development opportunities for assigned leaders and volunteers.
Oversee proper record keeping and reporting including activities and events conducted, breakdowns of daily participation figures, notable achievements and any problems/issues.
Ensure productive and effective performance by all program leaders and volunteers.
Marketing and Public Relations
Increase visibility of Club programs via posting of daily schedule, announcements of upcoming events, and disseminating timely information for the development of advertising and promotion through mailings, fliers, media releases, and social media.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED
Bachelor’s degree from a regionally-accredited institution of higher learning.
A minimum of 3 years of direct youth service experience and will have a demonstrable record of planning and implementing youth programs. Previous experience working with at-risk youth is preferred.
Strong oral, written and presentation communication skills.
Group leadership skills, including an understanding of group dynamics
Candidates must be able to pass a drug test, criminal and driving records investigation.
The successful candidate will primarily work indoors. Accordingly, the ability to use a variety of equipment including janitorial and office equipment is required. The job requires the ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, reach, bend, and lift objects weighing in excess of 25lbs. Outdoor work and moderate physically demanding activities may be required on occasion. The ability to read and write is necessary to complete reports and properly document program and organizational data.
A valid driver's license and ability to be insured under the company's insurance policy is also a requisite.
