    West Michigan Aviation Academy is currently seeking a Boys Tennis Coach ** .**

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Boys Tennis Coach to lead and develop our student-athletes both on and off the court. The Boys Tennis Coach will be responsible for planning and conducting practices, developing players' skills, promoting sportsmanship, and fostering a positive team culture. This role plays a vital part in supporting student-athlete growth, encouraging academic success, and ensuring compliance with school and athletic association policies.

    Key Responsibilities :

    Essential Duties :

    • Plan, organize, and conduct effective tennis practices and training sessions.
    • Teach and develop fundamental and advanced tennis skills, strategies, and techniques.
    • Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and character development among student-athletes.
    • Supervise student-athletes during practices, matches, team travel, and other team-related activities.
    • Develop lineups and make coaching decisions during competitions.
    • Monitor athlete performance and provide constructive feedback to support growth and improvement.
    • Ensure the safety and well-being of all student-athletes during practices and competitions.
    • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, parents, school administration, and athletic department staff.
    • Maintain accurate records, including attendance, eligibility, and team information.
    • Coordinate match schedules, equipment needs, and team logistics with the athletic department.
    • Enforce school, conference, and athletic association rules and regulations.
    • Encourage academic achievement and positive behavior among student-athletes.
    • Attend coaches' meetings, professional development opportunities, and athletic department events as required.
    • Assist with program development, recruitment, and promotion of the tennis program.
    • Maintain and inventory tennis equipment and facilities.
    • Regular and predictable attendance.

    Cognitive Demands :

    • Supervise multiple student-athletes simultaneously.
    • Analyze player performance and implement strategies for individual and team improvement.
    • Make effective decisions during practices and competitions.
    • Maintain a safe, structured, and positive athletic environment.
    • Demonstrate leadership, organization, and problem-solving skills.
    • Communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, officials, and community members.
    • Participate in continuous professional development and coaching education.

    Physical Demands :

    • Frequently stand, walk, and move around tennis courts and athletic facilities.
    • Demonstrate tennis techniques and drills as needed.
    • Occasionally lift and/or move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
    • Work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
    • Travel to away matches and tournaments as required.
    • Withstand moderate to high noise levels during practices and competitions.

    Qualifications :

    • High school diploma required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
    • Previous tennis coaching and/or competitive playing experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of tennis rules, techniques, strategies, and player development.
    • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
    • Ability to build positive relationships with student-athletes, parents, and staff.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with school administration and athletic department personnel.
    • CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification as required.
    • Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and student-centered athletic program.
