    The Braille Institute is seeking a National Program Specialist for their Los Angeles, CA, (90029) location.

    Who is Braille Institute?

    Braille Institute is a non-profit organization whose mission is to positively transform the lives of those with vision loss. We offer a broad range of free programs, classes and services serving thousands of students of all ages helping to demonstrate that vision rehabilitation is a beginning, not an end.

    We serve the community from seven centers, and hundreds of community outreach locations throughout Southern California, and lead popular national programs like Braille Challenge and Cane Quest. Our staff and volunteers understand losing your vision can be scary, but we believe it is not the end of independence but a new way of living.

    About the role:

    The National Programs Specialist will be responsible for providing programming and production support to department staff such as, program planning, development, delivery and other duties as assigned.

    Additional duties include:

    • Supports logistics for all National Programming and Youth Programming by coordinating with and providing support for internal teams and external program partners.
    • Works with the publishing department to provide materials.
    • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with program participants and stakeholders.
    • Assists and provides coverage for other administrative, programming, and production functions as requested.
    • Provides input to the marketing department on program social media activities.
    • Assists with program deliverables, which may include program planning, contracts, and production.

    Minimum Requirements:

    • Requires good organizational, computer, communication, and time management skills.
    • At least one year of experience in program support and/ or administrative support is preferred.
    • Strong written and communication skills.
    • Experience working in the non-profit industry is a plus.
    • A high school diploma or equivalent is required, a 4-year degree is desirable.

    Braille Institute requires its employees to be “fully vaccinated.” “Fully vaccinated” means having received both shots of a two-dose vaccination series (Pfizer or Moderna) or the one-shot Johnson & Johnson vaccine AND having received a booster once booster-eligible, which is 6 months after the second dose for Pfizer or Moderna, or 2 months after the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
