    Brain.fm creates functional music to help our users focus, relax, and sleep. We're looking for a talented Composer to join our amazing team! 

    Brain.fm's mission is to help people all around the world to be the best version of themselves. Brain.fm is a collaboration between scientists, musicians and developers who each believe that the best approach to functional music is not curation of existing music, but through research, testing, and in every way crafting music with function first.

    As a Composer, your primary responsibility will be to create original music for our platform.

    You should be someone with a comprehensive knowledge of musical styles and genres, broad understanding of the craft of musical composition, and strong technical ability. As a music-maker, you are creative, prolific, meticulous, and broad in scope. You have a firm grasp of the needed areas of other fields: psychoacoustics, neuroscience, and music technology. You are results-driven, wanting to see the outcome of your efforts.

    This position is full-time and can be done remotely. 

    Responsibilities:

    • Craft original audio content and own the content creation pipeline from concept to the app
    • Curate, edit, and adapt audio content for applications outside primary Brain.fm service
    • Conceptualize and implement innovative new approaches to Brain.fm music production and the Brain.fm library
    • Research and implement new production tools
    • Update and manage our Music Database
    • Conduct research using analytics to inform decision-making regarding our content library

    Requirements:

    • In-depth knowledge and experience composing in Ableton Live
    • Broad knowledge of software instruments
    • Proven ability to compose in a variety of styles and genres
    • Experience processing and editing dialog and voice-over
    • Basic understanding of audio mastering principles and practices
    • Demonstrates artistic and innovative approaches to music production
    • Familiarity with 3D Spatial Audio 
    • Ability to handle several tasks simultaneously
    • Experience managing large databases

    Pluses:

    • A degree in Music Composition, Music Technology, or Audio Engineering
    • 3+ Years of experience preferred
