Branch Manager – Building Materials Retail & Lumberyard

Woodland Building Supply | Philadelphia, PA

    Full-Time | On-Site | Base Salary + Performance Bonus

Ready to Run Your Own Store?

Are you a successful assistant store manager, department manager, or Pro Services leader at Lowe's, Home Depot, or an independent building materials dealer?

Woodland Building Supply is seeking a hands-on Branch Manager to lead our retail store, showroom, lumberyard, and warehouse operations.

We're a locally owned supplier serving contractors, builders, remodelers, property managers, and homeowners throughout Philadelphia.

Unlike large corporate retailers, at Woodland your ideas matter, you work directly with ownership, and your results are recognized.

We're looking for a leader who takes ownership, develops employees, drives sales, and runs the branch like it's their own business.

    Key Responsibilities

    Retail Store & Showroom

Oversee retail, showroom, counter sales, lumberyard, and warehouse operations.

Maintain clean, organized, well-stocked merchandise and attractive product displays.

Manage pricing, signage, merchandising, and product replenishment.

Work with vendors to improve displays and product knowledge.

    Sales & Customer Service

Drive branch sales, gross profit, and customer satisfaction.

Build relationships with contractors and repeat customers.

Coach employees on selling, product knowledge, and add-on sales.

Resolve customer complaints and coordinate with outside sales.

    Employee Leadership

Supervise, schedule, train, and develop store, yard, and warehouse employees.

Set expectations, coach performance, and hold employees accountable.

Manage attendance, productivity, staffing, and overtime.

    Inventory & Operations

Maintain inventory accuracy, stock availability, and proper storage.

Oversee cycle counts, shipping, receiving, deliveries, and inter-branch transfers.

Coordinate purchasing needs and resolve inventory discrepancies.

Reduce stock-outs, material damage, and operational errors.

Maintain a clean, safe facility and ensure equipment inspections.

    Financial Accountability

Meet sales and gross-profit goals while controlling expenses.

Manage labor costs, inventory losses, and operational efficiency.

Ensure proper cash handling and daily management reporting.

    Review performance and implement improvements.

    Qualifications

    Required

3+ years of retail, branch, or operations management experience.

Background in building materials, lumber, hardware, home improvement, or related retail.

Strong leadership, customer service, and sales skills.

Experience with inventory, merchandising, and employee development.

Understanding of sales goals, gross margins, and labor expenses.

Hands-on leadership style and strong problem-solving abilities.

    Preferred

Lowe's, Home Depot, Pro Services, or independent lumberyard management experience.

Knowledge of lumber, doors, windows, hardware, millwork, flooring, and cabinetry.

QuickBooks or inventory management software experience.

    Bilingual English/Spanish skills.

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Operations, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience will be considered.
