Description: Branches Climb to College & Career Program is seeking
current college juniors, seniors, or recent college graduates who are
interested in gaining valuable experience in the education and college
access programming field. The Climb to College & Career Program Intern
will work primarily with the Program Manager to help launch the
expansion of the Climb to College & Career Program and implement the
college readiness and college mentor program of Branches. PRIMARY
RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Direct Service (30%) * Provide individualized
student support in navigating the planning process for high school and
beyond, which includes decisions about what classes to take, what type
of education to pursue after high school, school selection, application
preparation, scholarships, etc. * Participate in orienting, informing,
and presenting to students, parents, and other stakeholders * Assist
with planning and leading (as appropriate) college tours (both local and
within the state) * Maintaining and disseminating information about
standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, TOEFL, and ASVAB * Coordinating
and supporting test preparation activities, including test registration
- Program Development (50%) * Assist Program Manager in designing and
implementing a series of workshops focused on life skills, high school
success, and college readiness resulting in each student developing an
education and career plan with specific, attainable goals * Collaborate
with Climb team to integrate Climb to College workshops and activities
into flow of Climb programming * Assist Program Manager in developing
college awareness and preparation curriculum material for middle and
high school students * Participate as needed in the development of the
mentoring program model 3. Program Administration & Data Management
(20%) * Manage a calendar that informs families about test dates, local
college events, scholarships, and financial aid * Collect relevant data
and information that will help design and implement strategies that
increase value of services provided by the program * Record and track
key data such as applications submitted, admission decisions, test
results, and other statistics to be used in reports Experience and
Skills: Education and Experience: * 1-2 years college in Communication,
Student Affairs, Education, Counseling, Social Change or related field
strongly preferred * Prior experience in youth empowerment and working
with low income youth and families preferred * Team player and a leader;
proven ability to work with and motivate students will strengthen
candidacy * Knowledge of or experience in college advising is helpful,
