Role Overview

We're looking for a strategic, culturally aware Brand Marketing Copywriter who knows how to turn science into stories that people actually want to read. This role sits at the intersection of brand, creative, and marketing—developing compelling copy that builds emotional connection while maintaining credibility.

You'll partner closely with our Brand, Digital, Social, and Retail Marketing teams to shape messaging across every consumer touchpoint. From campaign concepts and retail launches to product storytelling and digital experiences, you'll help define how our brand shows up in the world.

This is a role for someone who thinks beyond words—someone who understands strategy, culture, and how great storytelling can elevate a brand.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop brand-forward copy across marketing campaigns, product launches, retail initiatives, email, social, web, paid media, packaging, and experiential activations.
• Translate complex scientific and wellness information into clear, compelling consumer messaging.
• Partner with Art Directors and Designers to concept integrated creative campaigns from ideation through execution.
• Help define campaign messaging frameworks, headlines, taglines, manifestos, and supporting copy.
• Maintain and evolve the brand voice across every consumer touchpoint.
• Collaborate with Product Marketing to communicate product benefits while ensuring messaging remains compliant with regulatory guidelines.
• Write copy that performs across both brand storytelling and performance marketing objectives.
• Contribute to brainstorming sessions by bringing cultural insights, trend awareness, and fresh creative thinking.
• Support retailer-specific marketing initiatives with messaging tailored to different audiences while maintaining brand consistency.
• Work cross-functionally with Marketing, Creative, Social, PR, E-commerce, Retail, and Product Development teams.
• Participate in creative reviews, presenting messaging rationale and refining work based on feedback.
• Ensure accuracy, consistency, and attention to detail across all written materials.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of experience in lifecycle marketing, CRM, retention marketing, customer marketing, or a related function within an ecommerce or consumer brand.
• Hands-on experience managing communications across email, SMS, push notifications, or other owned channels.
• Experience working in Klaviyo and with SMS platforms.
• Strong understanding of lifecycle strategy, automation, segmentation, personalization, testing, and customer journey development.
• Experience managing an agency, vendor, or external partner.
• Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams and cross-functional dependencies.
• Experience writing marketing briefs and editing customer-facing copy.
• Strong analytical capabilities with the ability to identify discrepancies, question results, and uncover areas of opportunity.
• Experience with Shopify and analytics or reporting platforms.
• Clear and confident communicator who can provide direction, influence stakeholders, and keep work moving forward.
• Comfortable balancing collaboration with accountability in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Work Location & Schedule

This position follows an enforced hybrid schedule, requiring team members to be present in our San Diego, California office at least four days per week (Monday–Thursday). Fridays are available for remote work. This role also requires attendance at all in-person monthly team meetings and quarterly company events.

Physical Requirements

This role primarily involves office-based work and requires the ability to occasionally lift, carry, or move items up to 20–30 pounds, such as files or office supplies. Employees should be able to sit or stand for extended periods and perform frequent computer-based tasks, including prolonged exposure to a computer screen.

Compensation & Benefits

The salary range for this position is $80,000-85,000 annually. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
