    Plant Healthcare Technician

    Job Summary:

    The Plant Healthcare Manager is responsible for managing and maintaining the health of plants, trees, and landscapes. This role involves the development and execution of strategies to enhance plant health, diagnose and treat diseases, manage pests, and promote overall well-being while ensuring environmental sustainability.

     

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Manage a book of Commercial and Residential Clients by providing site visits, site inspections and consulting on tree and plant health plans.
    • Plant Health Assessment: Regularly inspect plants and landscapes to assess their health and identify issues related to diseases, pests, environmental stress, and nutritional deficiencies.
    • Treatment Planning: Develop comprehensive plant healthcare plans that include preventive measures, treatment strategies, and appropriate maintenance practices.
    • Disease and Pest Management: Identify and diagnose plant diseases, pests, and other issues affecting plant health. Implement appropriate control measures, including the selection and application of pesticides when necessary.
    • Nutrient Management: Analyze soil and plant tissue samples to determine nutrient deficiencies and recommend soil amendments or fertilization programs to enhance plant growth.
    • Irrigation Management: Oversee irrigation systems and ensure proper water management to prevent overwatering or under watering, which can stress plants.
    • Pruning and Maintenance: Develop pruning schedules and oversee plant maintenance to improve aesthetics and health while reducing potential hazards.
    • Environmental Stewardship: Promote environmentally sustainable practices, such as mulching, composting, and organic gardening, to minimize the ecological impact of plant healthcare activities.
    • Client Relations: Communicate with clients, property owners, or stakeholders to provide updates on plant health status, treatment plans, and recommendations for landscape improvement.
    • Record Keeping: Maintain detailed records of plant health assessments, treatment plans, and the outcomes of care, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

     

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Horticulture, Plant Science, Agriculture, or a related field.
    • Proven experience in plant healthcare, horticulture, arboriculture, or a related role.
    • Strong knowledge of plant biology, plant diseases, pests, and soil science.
    • Certified Arborist and Category 24 License
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for client interactions.
    • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions regarding plant healthcare.
    • Knowledge of environmental regulations and safety protocols.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

     

    Schedule: Monday through Friday with rotating weekend call
