    Our client is an established Landscape and Design/Build Company located in the area of Portland, Oregon. They provide well designed landscape solutions which add and improved usable living spaces for residential clients’ properties. They build patios, paths, outdoor kitchens, water features, retaining walls, fire pits, covered structures, outdoor lighting and full garden projects to include plant/tree designs and installations.

    They are currently looking for an “Install Department Manager” to run a growing department ($5.5mm) with healthy margins.


    This person would be responsible for the overall management of the division and would report directly to the owners of the company. An ideal candidate would have the following experience:

    • Managing the P&L 
    • Defining and implementing policies and procedures 
    • Defining metrics and implementing KPI's
    • Training the managers on best practices and safety
    • Estimating and developing scopes of work, 
    • Interacting with clients comfortably
    • Holding employees accountable based upon defined responsibilities 

    This position will ultimately be responsible for the profitability and success of the division and for driving a culture of accountability and professionalism.

     

    The majority of the work is performed in-house; therefore, experience managing crews to include plant installation, masonry, lighting, carpentry and others areas of specialty construction will be important. A typical job has a budget of approximately $50k, although some projects are over $250k with added complexity


    Project Management processes such as scheduling, purchasing, labor management, change order management, weekly reporting, etc. will need to be reviewed and improved upon. Motivating, training and holding employees accountable to quality and safety standards is critical component for this organization.

    Field Knowledge:
    Landscape, Hardscape, softscape, drainage, grading, irrigation, low voltage lighting (12volt), water features and an understanding of local codes. Construction: Carpentry to include framing and external finishes, masonry, plumbing and local codes.


    Employee Management
    Manage 8-10 direct reports to include Project Managers, Schedulers, Technicians, Mechanics, Office Staff and Vendor Relationships.
    There are 5-6 Project Managers who are responsible for client relations and all facets of the installation project. This includes county/city inspections, vendor relations, material purchasing, labor usage and other HR responsibilities.
