    Job Description

    Breakwater accounting + advisory corp® is looking for a Manager, SWAT to join our Nonprofit team. This role is new to the organization and works primarily with new clients to analyze their financial records, fix existing accounting and bookkeeping errors, and transition clean data to the ongoing client team.

    The Manager works closely with Breakwater’s Workflow Solutions team and leverages their accounting and technical expertise to help streamline client processes, recommend accounting and workflow changes, and position clients to reach their financial goals.

    This person also advises our staff and our existing clients on accounting trends and questions, and pitches in on occasional Nonprofit team project work. This position reports to our Business Segment Leader, Nonprofit.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Perform due diligence and deep dive analysis of new clients’ financials
    • Use financial analytical skill sets to audit, investigate, and analyze all components of a client’s financial infrastructure
    • Develop and manage timelines for new business proposals and due diligence projects
    • As a result of due diligence projects, clean up client accounting and bookkeeping records, advising on changes and updates as needed
    • Document findings from due diligence and analysis to assist with client transitions.
    • Provide accounting guidance to clients and breakwater team members
    • Stay up to date on ever-changing cloud accounting software updates and tools
    • Identify areas for improvement in each client’s accounting processes or reporting and provide solutions
    • Assist in converting new clients to Quickbooks Online, or other preferred cloud-based accounting software, as needed
    • Travel to client locations as needed

    Qualifications

    • Accounting degree and minimum 5 years of work experience required
    • Familiarity with grant tracking and its purpose, as well as expertise in revenue recognition as it relates to nonprofit organizations
    • Demonstrated expertise QuickBooks Online at minimum and Xero preferred
    • Small-mid size business accounting and bookkeeping knowledge required
    • Comfortable with learning new technology and accounting applications quickly
    • Must be highly organized, tech savvy, self-motivated, comfortable with change and ambiguity, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Detail oriented and the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy
    • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines using excellent time management skills with ease and professionalism
    • Effective problem-solving and project management skills
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Proficient in MS Office
    • Professional w/excellent interpersonal & organizational skills
    • Strong team player
