B. Key Responsibilities
• Identify abnormalities within breast tissue, distinguish between benign conditions and malignant tumors, and guide biopsy procedures when necessary.
• Collaborate with surgeons, oncologists, and primary care doctors to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Provide essential consultations to clarify diagnostic findings, discuss potential treatment paths, and alleviate patient concerns.
• Contribute significantly to advancing breast health outcomes and fostering informed, patient-centered care.
• Detect and diagnose breast conditions at their earliest stages but also play an essential role in the ongoing monitoring and management of breast health, thereby enhancing patients' quality of life and survival rates.
• Responsible for providing general and Interventional Radiology procedures, including, but not limited to Diagnostic Radiology, CT scans, MRI and Ultrasounds.
• Communication of test results for patient receiving care in accordance with VHA Directive 1088, Communicating Test Results to Providers and Patients.
• Provide consultation with and instruction to referring physicians regarding appropriate indications from general radiology films, ultrasound, CT, MRI and Interventional Radiology procedures for expeditious and clinically appropriate work-up.
• Follow all established medication policies and procedures.
• Stay current with advancements in radiology and imaging technology through continuous education and professional development.
• Participate in training and education of medical residents and staff on radiological practices and imaging interpretations.
• Oversees Mammography program and assures daily compliance with imaging quality standards.
• Ensures Mammography program follows and meets all requirements as set forth by ACR, FDA/VHA and MQSA.
• Maintain comprehensive documentation of imaging interpretations and patient interactions in compliance with legal and institutional policies.
• Provide discharge education and follow up instructions that are coordinated with the next care setting for all emergency department patients.
• Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

• Board Certification from the American Board of Radiology.
• Current, active, full, and unrestricted license as a physician from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Accredited in Mammography by American College of Radiology.
Education Required:
• Doctor of Medicine, Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or equivalent from a school in the United States or Canada accredited by the Council on Medical Education of the American Medical Association, Association of American Medical Colleges, Liaison Committee on Medical Education, Commission on Osteopathic College Accreditation of the American Osteopathic Association or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education at the time the degree was obtained.
Physical Requirements:
•Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office work environment.
• Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
• May require bending, stooping and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Other Special Qualifications:
• Must be able to read, write, and speak English to effectively communicate.
• US Citizen or Permanent Resident Card is required.
• Pass/possess VA Public Trust Clearance.

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
