    Job Description

    Bremer Whyte Brown & O'Meara is seeking an Accounts Receivable Clerk in our Newport Beach office. This position is responsible for performing routine accounting activities such as basic accounts payable/receivable duties, account reconciliation, data entry, maintaining spreadsheets, filing, and scanning.

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Submit statements, run reports, create file profiles, and enter initial budgets and budget updates in various platforms.
    • Generate client invoices and assist with collections.
    • Review all invoices for appropriate documentation and approval prior to payment.
    • Respond to vendor inquiries and reconcile vendor accounts against statements and payment transactions.
    • Submit new billings and email appeals to the appropriate attorney for review.
    • Assist with month end closing processes and procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations as well as Firm policies and procedures.
    • Code documents according to Firm procedures.
    • Identify and report discrepancies.
    • Cross train in other areas of Accounting and Finance as directed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Knowledge and Skill Requirements:

    • 1+ year of experience in data entry or an office environment, preferably in a law firm or legal environment.
    • Familiarity with economic and accounting principles and practices, financial markets, banking, and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
    • (Preferred, but not required) Experience with financial and document management software, preferably TABS, NetDocuments, Legal X, Legal Exchange, T360, Tymetrix, LSS, LSS Arch, Ascent, Counselink, Legal Tracker, Riverside, Navigator, Barkeley Submission, Stuart Maue, and SMMJ.
    • Ability to interact with others in a professional, tactful, and sensitive manner.
    • Effective communication and organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced work environment and to work independently as well as part of a team.
    • Proficient with the Microsoft suite of applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Visio, etc.).
    • Required – High School Diploma or GED, preferred associate degree in Finance/Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or equivalent work experience.
