Restoration Mason / Restoration Technician (Project-Based)
Primary Location: Richmond, VA
Travel: Frequent travel to job sites throughout Virginia, including Charlottesville, Lynchburg, Lexington, and surrounding areas as needed

Pay: $21.00 - $26.00 per hour, based on experience
Position Summary
We are seeking dependable, hardworking Restoration Masons / Restoration Technicians to join our growing restoration team based in Richmond, Virginia. This is a project-based position, with assignments ranging from several days to multiple weeks depending on the scope of each project.
While employees will be based out of the Richmond area, this position will regularly require travel to project sites throughout Virginia. Our team specializes in restoring and preserving commercial, industrial, institutional, and historical structures. The ideal candidate will have masonry restoration experience, enjoy hands-on work, and be willing to assist with a variety of restoration and construction projects.
Essential Responsibilities
Masonry Restoration
- Remove deteriorated or damaged mortar joints using hand and power tools.
- Perform tuckpointing and repointing while matching existing mortar joints for a clean, professional finish.
- Remove and replace damaged brick, block, stone, and other masonry materials.
- Restore masonry surfaces while maintaining structural integrity and appearance.
- Match existing mortar color, texture, and joint profiles whenever possible.
Concrete Restoration
- Demolish and remove damaged concrete.
- Repair and restore concrete surfaces using industry-approved materials and techniques.
- Perform concrete patching, resurfacing, and finishing.
- Assist with structural concrete restoration projects.
Waterproofing & Restoration
- Assist with the installation of waterproofing systems and moisture protection products.
- Apply sealants, coatings, and waterproofing materials according to project specifications.
- Prepare surfaces prior to waterproofing installation.
General Construction Duties
- Assist with demolition and site preparation.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, grinders, saws, and demolition equipment safely.
- Load, unload, and transport construction materials.
- Maintain clean and organized work areas.
- Perform additional restoration and construction tasks as assigned.
- Work closely with supervisors and crew members to complete projects safely, efficiently, and on schedule.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in masonry restoration, tuckpointing, bricklaying, concrete repair, commercial construction, or a related trade preferred.
- Experience removing and replacing brick, block, stone, and mortar.
- Knowledge of construction tools, equipment, and safe work practices.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Dependable with a strong work ethic and positive attitude.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Travel Requirements
This position is based in Richmond, VA, but employees should expect to travel to project sites throughout Virginia as business needs require.
Typical project locations include:
- Richmond
- Charlottesville
- Lynchburg
- Lexington
- Other locations throughout Virginia
When overnight travel is required:
- Company-paid hotel accommodations are provided.
- Daily per diem is provided for qualifying travel assignments.
- Employees local to the project site are not eligible for hotel accommodations or per diem.
Schedule
- Project-based assignments lasting anywhere from several days to multiple weeks.
- Typical schedule is Monday through Thursday or Friday, depending on the project.
- 10+ hour workdays are common.
- Overtime opportunities are available.
- Occasional weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and work on scaffolding or ladders throughout the day.
- Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
- Ability to safely wear required PPE and perform physically demanding work.
Preferred Qualifications
- Masonry restoration or tuckpointing experience.
- Brick, block, or stone masonry experience.
- Concrete repair and restoration experience.
- Waterproofing installation experience.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
- Experience working on commercial, industrial, or historical restoration projects.
Compensation & Benefits
- $21.00 - $26.00 per hour, based on experience.
