    This position will work primarily with agents in the states of Georgia and South Carolina. Therefore, this position will work from a home office and report to our South & Mid-Atlantic team.  The ideal work location would be the metro Atlanta, Georgia area

    The Regional Production Underwriter is the liaison between BrickStreet and its appointed independent agency force within a defined geographic area and is responsible for the financial performance of the book of business within that area.  The Regional Production Underwriter is expected to achieve profitable retention and growth within the designated territory.

    The Regional Production Underwriter, within designated authority, reviews insurance applications to evaluate, classify and rate each risk to determine acceptability, coverage and pricing.  The position’s objective is to seek out profitable business opportunities, review risks and determine acceptability.  The position is focused on achieving results that positively impact sales and profitability.

    This position is responsible for identifying, developing and maintaining agency relationships in order to ensure corporate growth, retention, and profitability goals are met.  The Regional Production Underwriter works with the appointed agents to provide agency training and assist agencies with the tools needed to build their books of business with BrickStreet in order to increase premium volume and profitability. The Regional Production Underwriter gathers competitive intelligence, stays abreast of current insurance laws and regulations, prospects and qualifies new agents for potential appointment, submits written reports as required, and attends industry events.

    The items listed below are essential functions of the position unless otherwise stated 

    Position Responsibilities:

     

    1. Liaison between BrickStreet and its appointed independent agency force.
    2. Develop and maintain agency relationships.
    3. Schedule and coordinate all agency visits. 
    4. Provide agency training and assist agencies with the tools needed to build agency book of business with BrickStreet in order to increase premium volume and profitability.
    5. Gather competitive intelligence.
    6. Stay abreast of current insurance laws and regulations.
    7. Prospect and qualify new agents for potential appointment.
    8. Submit written reports as required.
    9. Attend industry events.
    10. Determine the acceptability, quality, pricing, profitability and opportunity for new and existing business.
    11. Complete thorough risk analysis on designated accounts using appropriate BrickStreet, NCCI, and industry rules, policies, procedures, guidelines, etc.
    12. Identify, create and initiate new business opportunities within assigned book of business.
    13. Gather and analyze information necessary to make an accurate evaluation of risk.
    14. Determine appropriate pricing based on risk exposures, risk quality, loss potential and coverage provided.
    15. Utilize available resources including company underwriting guidelines, business unit strategies, and consultation with others to ensure adequate understanding of risk exposures.
    16. Prepare and participate in proposals to producers.  Negotiate terms and conditions.
    17. Ensure the proper issuance of policies, certificates, filings and notifications.
    18. Effectively utilize NCCI rules and guidance to ensure proper policy construction.
    19. Seek the guidance of management on risks exceeding assigned authority levels.
    20. Identify underwriting issues; recommend and develop plans for problem resolution and implement where appropriate.
    21. Manage existing and prospective accounts by actively participating in account renewals, new business presentations and discussion with agents.
    22. Participate in monitoring and analyzing performance of assigned agents; initiate actions and recognize consequences of alternative actions.
    23. Account management including coordination of service delivery of various disciplines within the team: claim review, safety and loss services, customized reporting, etc.
    24. Non-essential function: other duties as assigned.

    • Ability to develop and implement account, territorial, producer and book strategies to acquire and retain business.

    • Ability to use sound logic and decision-making skills to identify complex problems, analyze alternatives, then develop and implement effective solutions.

    • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle.
    • Must hold a valid driver’s license.


    Required Experience
    • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university;
    • Minimum of five years’ successful sales experience in the Property & Casualty insurance market working in an independent agency or agency management experience for an insurance company environment. 
    • Minimum of five years’ successful workers compensation underwriting experience
    • Demonstrated significant underwriting experience may substitute for educational requirements.
    • Preference may be shown for applicants with CPCU and/or ARM designation(s).
