Sr. Data Engineer

Our Data team provides engineering, architecture, and support for data sciences within the company. Bridge is seeking a Data Engineer who will jump right in to building tools and processes that scale with and for our use of data.

We know how much you enjoy creating actionable insights from unique data sets that consist of most of the adults in America in near real-time scale. In this role you will be responsible for:

• Designing architecture, extending process and components that are responsible for the core of Bridg's systems, using today's best practices and modern technologies.
• Building, optimizing, and maintenance of a high-performance data pipeline for the ingestion of consumer data from multiple sources
• Ensuring the correctness of data flowing through the data pipeline
• Productionalizing results from Data Science
• Code reviews
• Maintaining appropriate documentation
• Ensuring code has tests to catch gross errors prior to deployment
• Assisting in the on-boarding, mentoring, and training of less experienced engineers 
• Ensuring important tasks are monitored and there is a playbook to debug errors
• Participating in the interviewing, hiring, and on-boarding process of future team members
• Maintaining technical competence in the current state of the art of data and data pipelines
• Collaborating with Data Science in implementation and testing designs 

Communication is critical for this role:

• Need to maintain communication with Data Team and the rest of the company
• Participate in status checks and data technical discussions
• Assist with presentations to Bridg teams and leaders on release updates, demos, progress, challenges, etc.

This is a hands-on role and will require:

• Delivering projects in a timely manner
• Assisting in time planning to ensure the best possible results for Bridg with the resources available

Your Background:

• Proficient in Java 8
• Experience in Data Platform concepts such as Flink, Spark, Beam, Google Dataflow, etc. We use Flink
• NoSQL usage of Mongodb, Elasticsearch, Cassandra, etc. We use Mongodb and Cassandra
• Machine Learning implementation experience to include some combination of Neural Nets, Baysian, Linea Regression, Decision Tree, Clustering, etc. 
• Debugging expertise
• Ability to identify and optimize code to provide performance with reasonable compute levels
• Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• Excellent capacity to learn quickly, think on the fly, and self teach as required
• Goal-oriented with strong willingness to learn and constantly improve

It will be awesome if you have experience with some or all of the following:

• Kafka
• Python, R, Javascript
• Queuing (activeMQ, SQS, redis, etc.)
• AWS cloud (EC2, ECS, VPC, IAM, CloudFormation)

Preferred Experience:

• 5+ years of professional software development
• 2+ years working in Big Data
• BS in CS
